AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME STUFF!! thumbup
I lived for a couple of years in Wellington in New Zealand. The airport is quite well known for having sea at both ends of the short runway, and some mad crosswinds. Spent a few days out at the perimeter road watching them coming in biggrin

3 weeks ago I was on approach into Cork with a 45 Knot wind practically accross the runway, that was interesting

Taxying in we saw the roof blow off their shiny new terminal.
Yesterday morning was fun too...............

Most of them probably were, just manually flown.

Amazing what the guy did in the Hudson river as well, in the drink and no lives lost. Saw an interview with him and he says that after the landing he walked the length of the plane, twice, inside to make sure everyone was out before he got out himself - a real hero I think!

Isn't that what we call "drifting"??? hehe

The very first one, as it was approaching, I thought "no way, he'll have to go around" - and then he did!

Couldn't see why the 146 didn't land?

Me too (lived there). I landed at Windy Wellington many a time and had some great rushes before hitting the tarmac.

Mornin all. Anyone got a clue why, when I click on any of the video links today the black rectangle with the little centre spinner appears and after about 30 seconds the message "We're sorry this video is no longer available" comes in the middle of the blank black rectangle?
This is happening on all threads with video, and has not been experienced previously.
TIA.

First link is amazing. My last trip back from the Falklandswas a bit hairy. Ive flown loads and never bothered about turbulence or bumpy landings but this time I was proper bricking it. In a Jumbo about to land in The Ascension Isles, we werent far of 90 degres to the runway. L/H wheel down then back up down again then up then a lean over to the right hand wheel with lots of noise and all the over head comps rattling and opening, he finallly lines up and stamps on the anchors. We had to be pushed back as he had missed the turning and was nearly off the end of the runway. I wasnt happy as we had to do it all again in 8 hours when we landed at Brize.
