W&nky post alert.

Anyone else here love their night driving? Was hammering down various motorways earlier and it just reminded me how fantastic it can be.

Decent sounds, mostly electronic stuff like Hybrid, interspersed with V8 surges. Heating toasting me nicely and cruising along at a fair pace.

I love getting out in the car like that, gives me a chance to collect my thoughts and clear my head.

Pretty ghey post, ah well. I await flaming!

I regularly do the M23 in The XJ at night.

I can't honestly say it gives me a stiffy.

One of my best drives was after finishing working nights, driving home in my Stag with the top down. It had a loud exhaust too, but not quite in the same league as the 'ro. Great way to wind down!

I'd run with this too, I used to work a friday night for extra cash in Oxford, I would finish around 4am , I had the whole dual carriageway 15 miles worth to myself , flat out ( RS Turbo, mechancical rev limiter!! ) The only time I've ever driven really fast on the road ( I won't drive hard or fast with anyone else in the car ) and you're right it makes you feel alive. Compared to todays over the shoulder in the mirror driving.

No flaming from me mate. I think I know what you mean. More about the esoteric than erotic.

Cheers guys, nice to know I'm not going soft in the skull. Long distance cruising was a bit more traumatic in the old VX220. The radio was in inaudible, the car was shorter than most truck tyres and the canvas roof did a good impersonation of an aerofoil, getting sucked up off the car at speed! Oh and there was no heater or padding in the seats.

I think I'll be sticking to the bruiser cruisers for the time being

not done it myself for some years now but yeah used to love going out late at night and just driving, better in the summer months though - used to love being designated driver when we'd go to the nightclub up at Loch Lomond - drive up early evening in the sun, have a couple of beers early on then soft drinks for next 5hrs, disco started at midnight - go on to 3-3:30am and then drive back home - bout an hours drive - sun would be back up by then. Some great times driving late at night into the morning.
