I have a 2 way Kaaz fitted, highly rated
No Jez, what actually happened was that Eaton owns the design and Harrop build thier own version under license, hence they are more expensive. Harrop claim thiers is good for 600rwhp whereas Eatons is 500rwhp.
Eaton had a problem with production in that they forget to machine a C clip groove in the output spline. They had to recall them late last year. Deliveries of the GTO 28 spline Tru trac began as promised by Eaton, in January and (I think) becuase of the bother, many dealers were offering the unit "on Special".

also have Kaaz 2 way, best thing ever.
Hi Mate just wonderd is yours 2 way, 1.5 or what? Did you try a trutrac to compare it with? Tru tracs just work, they don't need any special oils, springs, cones or plates and don't have any foibles. The only advantage from a Kazz 2 way that I can see id there would be no transient "unwinding" when changing gear.A disadvantage of the kaaz I would imagine, apart from the fact it has clutch plates and therefore will require maintenance at some stage, would be that the 2-way locks on the way down and would therefore tend to make the car push (understeer) if decelerating round a corner. However I don't know for sure because i have not tried one.
What i do know is that the trutrac is tried and tested and bang for buck gives a great improvement over the stock offering (And at half the cost of a Kaaz and it's expensive oil)
NB I am not dissing the Kaaz, on balance I have doen my reaearch and made my choice based on my personal requirements.
Only tried the Kaaz and yes lift off or power on and it locks and slides, that's why I got it. Once it is warm it will lock out of junctions when pulling away normally but mine has been setup really tight. Clonks sometimes too but that's the price of having it setup tight. With the diff and all the adjustable linkages (Mark changed every suspension component to adjustable) in a straight line you can nail it and it won't spit you off the road even in the wet. The standard diff would always try and put you perpendicular to the road as it opened up.

I think the fact that yours stays straight maybe more to do with your suspension set up rather than the effect of the Kaaz. Torque wind up will tend to transfer weight to the left rear and make that wheel drive more (and pull the back end to that side). Well that's assuming that the diff has done its job and locked both rear wheels. I think everyone knows that the standard lsd is a bit finnicky about working properly dependant on how the oil and modifier are proportioned. I know in NZ that the dealers tended to allow the diffs to be "flexible" so they didn't get more complaints about "clonking" drive trains (Just another complaint less to deal with!)I found that out the first time I gave it to mine and noticed only one black line in the rear view mirror. Anyway, glad you are happy, that's the main thing, I'm about to find out if the Tru trac is all it's hyped to be. If not a lightweight spool is always an option?
Just dont use too grippy tyres with the Tru-Trac.
Ive seen a lots of designs of gear type diff. Im amazed at how few gears are in those. Quaife and my own have almost double the number, which makes them much much stronger
Although at least the outer shell looks stronger in that photo than some of the Ford or Camaro offerings.
Ive seen lots of pics of the cheaper cast casing fracturing too.

How is your Truetrac working out for you mym8v8?
Does anyone know what the Kaaz 2-way costs?
I've had mine in for a few months now and it has had a good caning up the 1/4 mile (with DR's) and appears to be holding up OK. There is nowhere near the amount of clunking you get with the standard LSD, so a lot smoother in that department. The only clunking I have experienced has been at the track after a few runs and getting hot. Does anyone know what the Kaaz 2-way costs?
So for both road and drag use it has been fine except for:
Couple of issues.
1. When installed there seems to be a lot of play (up and down) on the drive shafts, i.e at the side of the diff. You can grab hold of them and move them up and down a bit. Whether there is more tolerance in the spline cutting in this after market part I'm not sure. Eaton said they are having no issues.
2. If the burnout box has been flooded, torque appears to be routed to the wheel with the most drive. This can bugger your burnouts and thus affect the quality of launches.
3. I'm only putting 360rwhp through it at the moment so a longer term report might be in order when we get that up to around the 500 mark.
Torque with a internal gear diff like these should always transfer drive to the wheel with most grip.
But during a burnout, both wheels will always spin.
On my car, during the occasional moment of traction loss...on datalogs, you can actually see the drive cycle from wheel to wheel. So weird. ( ie, one wheel rotates faster than the other, then vica versa until traction is regained.
Ive opened these diffs up...and I'm still baffled as to how they work !!

Mine seems to be holding up fine @ 450 rwhp and 1.7 second 60 feet on full drag slicks.
On the road the car feels like it turns in better and holds it's line better.
Overall I think a worth while upgrade especailly if you are doing a diff ratio change at the same timeHarrops version is rated to 600 hp Eatons to 500 hp, However the Harrop one is much dearer.

How is the old girl going,
What have you done she had 480+rwhp when i had here.
