judging by the prices in the UK things are different when it comes to importing compared to Ireland. I paid $30,000 aus dollars for my ute in 2006, spent $5,500 on it on wheels and tonnue etc and then €2,000 shipping it to Irl, that was all good but then the customs hit me for €9,000 euro when it landed at the docks. They gave me 2 options when i questioned this... either pay it or send it back.. the car stood me €32,000 and yet u boys can sell them for £15,000 and its only €70 to vrt the car into Ireland. so i think a new ute shipped to the UK and then back to Irland for an extra €70 is the key
The problem with importing utes is that they are classed as a commercial vehicle and therefore the import duty is far more expensive than for a car. So you get hit for 22% duty and 17.5% VAT, that's before you've even got an SVA and it on the road. If you are a VAT registered business user, you could get the VAT back, but then if you re-sold the price incurs VAT making the sale dearer for your purchaser.
That's why there probably aren't so many ute's here.
I was lucky, I got mine in for free as a personal import, up yours Mr Brown!

Dos 12's (mine does too BTW), I don't know why you sold yours, it was a cracking piece of kit?
I didnt sell it, i swapped it with a mate in Surrey but it turns out that the deal we were doing aint gona work out the way we thought so it looks like ill be giving the UK car back. Its all good though coz both cars are just as good as each other but when the holden does come back im thinking of either getting it painted Pearl White with black rims etc or else the full Murder look.. Matt Black with Black rims.. it will be a big enough job so have to think hard bout the right colour scheme
I looked at part-exing my Maloo during the week. I was told by the.....reputable..... dealer that I'd be extremely lucky if I got anything like £10,000 for it, as, quote, no-one wants them. I know you'll never get as much on a P/X as a straight sale, but that sounded a bit rich for a 2006 with 16,000 miles up. Was I expecting a bit much? Figured £12-14,000 would have been more than fair.

Sounds like typical salesman type b
ks to me. I'd put it up privately. You might have to wait for the right price with things as they are at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't have thought ute's are part ex' material???AdeTuono said:

Is it a manual? If it is it will sell. Maybe not quickly, but it will go. We can do sale or return for you for a small commission.
