Anyone LPG'd a 6.0 Before?
Discussion
If not, I just have. Pics for those interested. It's a BRC system from a GreenFuel nominated installer. The system should be able to handle up to ~450hp.
I've only just driven the car back the short drive from the fitter. The whole journey was nose-tail heavy traffic so I can't give any performance / consumption opinions yet, will let y'all know if interested.
They've managed to cram a 62 litre tank (50 litres of gas) into the spare wheel area. Overall the install looks neat enough, so fingers crossed all will be well!
Once the brake discs die I'll put the AP brakes on and then I think the car will be 'complete' for me. Honestly, the 0.9 litre courtesy car I was driving this week seemed to have massively more stopping power. For those of you using standard CV8 brakes I can only imagine the size of your balls!
Edit: I need to get me some Waxoyl action too. Recommendations in the Warrington area accepted...

Nope, no supercharger for this one. If I wanted to go down that route it would be more cost-effective to sell up and buy a car with all the bits I'd want. The 2nd hand car market is on its arse, especially with these. I'm sure it won't be long before I could pick up a supercharged Monaro or VXR8 for barely over 5 figures. Amazing when you consider that's a 5k+ conversion with intercooler etc.
As for cost, it was £2300 inc VAT and took a working week to fit.
Edit: It's probably also worth mentioning that this is my everyday car. This thing gets driven at least 6 days a week, it's no garage queen. It's a daily road warrior.

I did have a brief conversation with LSV and they certainly do seem to be very enthusiastic about gas! I wonder what the upper power limits for LPG really are.
I've now done about 60 miles on gas and it's a curious thing. After less than a mile of urban driving from a cold start, you can hear the relay clicking as the car moves from petrol to gas. There's no interruption in power and the car seems to sound and drive the same. I've only had a couple of brief full-throttle moments but the car seems to pull as normal. Most of the time I rumble about riding the torque however. When starting a warm engine it will switch to gas within a few seconds.
I've been told it's fine to run the tank dry, so that's what I'll do this week to try and get an idea of range. It will detect low gas pressure, beep at you, then switch to petrol automatically. Should be able to get slightly more gas in next time due to air being removed from the system. Currently the gas ECU is in a data-logging mode for use when the engine mapping is to be finalised. This is when I have my 1000 mile check-up, that may yield some economy gains apparently.
The first of the gas fuel-gauge lights has gone off, now indicating 3/4 of a tank but these things aren't massively accurate apparently. I'd expect it to be nearer to 2/3 of a tank remaining given I've been doing urban driving. So I'll probably be filling up with gas at the end of the week. Let's hope I can remember how the filler works!
Glad to see people interested, I thought I might be excommunicated!
Edit: I might have to get along to a rolling road day and see what it does on gas vs petrol!

I'd be interested to hear how life is with LPG in this.
Could someone tell me where the spare wheel is in a VXR8, please?
Cheers, Steve

Mine is under the carpet in the boot, Should be a proper alloy painted black, but is only the same size as the front wheels! (can be fitted to back but no more than low speeds)

So it's actually a full-size front wheel then? That being the case it ought to be possible to get quite a big tank in I'd think. The 'ro has a space saver spare that looks like it was stolen from a bicycle.

The boot on a r8 is big enough to keep the spare and have a large lpg tank under the rear parcel shelf........

It will damn awkward to fit my slalom ski with a big tank there. This ain't me (www.livevideo.com/video/Glitchrf/B304C27B18F543228DE86892FEC18BE5/speed-freaks.aspx) ha, ha not in that league
But the ski hatch is ideal for err... the ski! Steve
Well, after 184 miles of mixed urban/commuting I've polished off my first 50 litres of gas.
So far, so good! Car's driving well and still making all the noises it should. Probably 10 or 15 miles of the above will have been on petrol due to having to warm the engine prior to switching to gas. So that said, it's pretty much bang on what I expected. Given the lower energy content of gas, and the smaller tank size - I reckon that a 50L tank of gas gets you 2/3 of the distance a full tank of petrol would.
I've got 140 miles of motorway driving to do on Monday so it'll be interesting to see the economy difference. Should be able to get 220ish miles from a tank I reckon.
I filled the tank up on the way home from work, the first time I'd attempted it - what a faff! Looked like a bit of a prat fumbling around, but got there eventually. The tank fills about the same speed as petrol would and just under £24 later I was on my way
We're a world away from paying more than £70 to move my car ~240 miles about six months ago!

Remember that in the summer months you will get about 4/5 litres less in the tank, due to the ambient temp. Therefore you will get less miles out of a tank. On my Omega with a 45L tank, in the winter I could squeeze a max of 41L in to it, but in summer only about 36L.
The most I ever got out of a tank was 255 miles on 40 L, about 25mpg, and that was a 2L Omega.

Hmm, just think what you could do with this then!
