With all the chat about V. Max, Harrys and Jez's monsters (and a few others) whats the fastest a true road Monaro or GTO has actually gone...? Is it the 182 that Jez has done?

How much power is needed to drag a ro up to 200mph over 2 miles with a longer diff (allowing 200mph in 5th)?
Surely the guys out there with 600+hp ought to be capable? With the quick Monaros now out there I'm surprised we've not seen anyone officially clocking the double-ton.

Get to work lads! There's Ruf Porkers to kill!

You'll need balls the size of a pair of clackers to do 200 mph. The question is, do you have your own or can you borrow a pair? Hmmm, could be trickysmile Answers on a postcard.

With the weapons grade banter and general Stig oriented torment you deploy on a daily basis, we're unlikely to forget you mate

Maybe if you get supercharged and put in a double ton you could become an honorary lad(ette)?

May need to get the spoiler removed or changed on the VXR8 as it tends to bend and hit the bootlid rapily at about 167! Kind of puts you off your concentrationdriving

According to the mathematical calculations and using Bruntingthorpe as the venue for the model its been calculated that with a 3.08 rear diff, the front splitter 2" from the deck and 600rwhp it SHOULD be possible to hit the double ton.
From personal experience I have my doubts that its enough TBO.

I agree about the spoiler, makes the front end to light, have you had your limiter removed or is that a speedo reading not sat nav...............also the aerial taps against the rear window..

With 600whp, skinnier tyres and fewer spoilers, perhaps my cv8 maybe in with a shout? In autocar recently a jag xfr with 550hp hit over 200mph at boneville so it's not all down to power.

Limiter removed, but surely that would be irresponsible

Eventually...yes no doubt, but at Brunters not a hope with a 3.46 diff, you`ll spend too much time accelerating in 6th to get better than about 185 is my guess. Change up to 6th at about 170ish and you`ll have about another 15-20 seconds of 6th gear acceleration left before you cross the line.
(At those speeds the drag is so great when you back off the car feels like the brakes are already on)

(I`ve spent ages on this trust me)

Perhaps we need an organised summer Autobahn run?

If it does then somethings wrong, I was 4 up at 179 and the car was as good as gold.
What tyres you running?
(Gunna email you next week with train times Ollie)

It's all down to aerodynamics and power. Shorten the run distance, and power becomes ever more important. If going for high speeds...you simply cant have too much power.
Of course you also do need to consider gearing. Ideally, you'd want to be achieving your speed goal, somewhere around peak power/torque so the car is pulling as hard as possible, against that drag.

And as mentioned, A car like a Monaro should feel totally stable at 140...and even 200mph. If it doesnt, something is seriously wrong

@ Jez.

The 3.08 diff and the 0.83 5th should be pretty good for an attempt. But you'd need close to a good solid 7000rpm to use.
