2 very different views on my Wortec with headers on "loud"

First was from a stranger in our local shop...
Her "excuse me are you the gentleman who lives down xxxxxxx Road?"
Me "Yes thats right"
Her "Thought I recognised the car......"
Me [big smiles and proud moment, thoughts of telling her all about the mods and stuff i've had done]
Her "Is there something wrong with it?"
Me [look of pride turning to bemusement....] " Err.... No there's nothing wrong with it"
Her "Is it meant to sound like that? only I have hearing problems and the noise from your car is very distressing to me, I just thought there was something wrong with it"
Me [getting annoyed now] "No, its just a big engine thats all, they make a lot of noise......."
Shopkeeper "Next please"

And that was that.

The other side of the coin was my neighbour who said he was having his breakfast the other day and actually opened the window so he could hear me better, turned to his Mrs and said "will you listen to that - it's beautiful"

Just goes to show our motors are not to everyone's liking - and I will bear that in mind the next time I have a 5am start and happen to be very close to the above ladies house.....hehe

Been thinking about what she said. I am assuming she means the backfiring as i am generally decelerating as i pass her house and mine likes to pop at just over tick over, which would be about right for 2nd gear. Will have to use 3rd instead to lessen the overrun.
BTW, I AM usually very careful not too make much noise in the mornings, but come afternoon I see it as a free for all!

Before I put the silencers back mine I was used in the same way by several neighbours. I'd leave the house bang on 7am each day, so they knew it was time to get up and get down the dole office

One of my neighbors can tell the weather by the number of cylinders of the Alarm. If its the camaro or Vette its time to get up but probably raining but if its the viper with all 10 firing down a pair of 3" fairly unrestricted exhausts, then they are shaken out of bed but at least know it will be a sunny day.

I've got the silencers fitted on mine at the moment. A couple of months back I started it up when parked in front of my dads garage and set his car alarm off. His car was in the garage at the time. Aw, I must have frightened it!

I took the plates out on Sunday to see what it was like. My wife was out walking with the dogs and had got chatting to one of the neighbours. I drove past at low revs and apparantly the woman made some comments about the car being sooooo loud. My wife didn't admit it was me, until I reversed back down the road to ask when dinner was. Ooops

Anyway the long and the short of it is 'er indoors' told me to stick the plates back in for the sake of the neighbours.
