Bad Vibration From Front Under Braking?
Discussion
Have not really used the car much since getting it due to work but am starting to notice quite a bad vibration on the front end under braking, gets worse the heavier the braking but also seems to start to go the longer the car is used.
I thought might be the tracking or the balance on the wheels, but they dont start to vibrate regardless of the speed and the tracking seems fine as the tyre wear is about even.
My only conclusion could be warped discs? Any ideas or likely problems?
Thanks

hi,
I attended a track day on Sunday and after one or two applications of heavy braking in this case 120mph down to around 80mph for a chicane and then again from 100mph 'ish for a 40mph hairpin they were juddering like hell.
They were fine after some gentle laps again and some cooling off in the paddock. I was assuming that the discs were expanding unevenly and then returning to their original shape once allowed to cool. Anyway if I am going to do anymore trackdays especially on tighter circuits the standard brakes will need to be binned and replaced with AP's.
I adore my Monaro but it aint a track car, well not yet anyway

Had exactly the same prob with my 05 CV8, and also thought warped discs. Took to 2 VX Monaro dealers - both said warped discs and not covered by warranty - wear and tear VX said. Had the car at Monkfish last week, Roger said discs aren't warped (very unlikely) because prob is not present under light to normal braking. Found pad material deposits on inside of discs. He fitted his recommended performance pads (harder material) and said these will clean off the deposits and juddering will decrease and be gone after a while - he's right, mine has improved greatly since - only done about 50 miles, another 50 should do it.

Thats excellent thanks, really need to get it into monkfish to be honest for a few other things just cant get down for a few months due to work/holidays.
Was contemplating getting the discs skimmed if it was likely they were warped but will go down the pads route instead. Would love the AP's but just not going to happen this year due to the cost of them.
Thanks again for the replies.

Had the same problem (post of a few weeks ago) on my Ro 500. AP's fitted. Gave AP a call and they said it was probably high spots not warp!
Got Walkinshaw's (they are near me at Chipping Norton and an AP agent) to take them off and send them to AP for inspection. AP have trued them up and returned them yesterday. Problem over!
A great job by both Ken Page at Walkinshaw and Pete Collen at AP. First class guys!
Walkinshaw have a very nice place at Chipping Norton for all HSV work (01608 672929)

As i just posted on the other thread, you'll find there warped. If under warranty fight to get them done free. We did

and in the other corner.....

As an aside on this subject, while speaking to Roger about this prob, he said in all his years 'in the biz' he has never once seen 'warped discs' - cracked, pitted, damaged, worn - yes, warped - no.
hmmm
so who's right?
Bonnie or The Monk?
After reaqding up on this matter for weeks on end when i had same issues, I came to the conclusion material transfer was the major issue, not warping.
If all these discs were warped then friction pads would not help, but they do. They clean up the discs a treat - - I've done 60k out of 75k miles on the clock in my Ro and never had the brake judder problem after switching to Friction Pads.

No shit
Monkfish if you around, the monaro has got to go into VX in a few weeks for warranty work. One of the main things is the driver and passenger seats move an inch forward on acceleration and breaking. Its been in twice for this already. Dont suppose you know what it might be so "i can tell them"
Thank oh great ones
