I seem to remember whoever pursued it from here needed to trade in his current 'Ro and couldn't come to an agreement with the dealer he was happy with for that.

Not really, considering how much you've have to spend to get a standard VXR to that spec, it's an absolute bargain!

I agree, it would cost a considerable amount of money to upgrade a standard one to that spec, however we all know when you sell a car you never recoup anywhere near the original cost of the mods...

Plus it's 1 of only 15 of the 'official' 500's made.

It's under £20,000 for a fully verified 500bhp supercar! If you could put a price on that much fun it would be a lot more than £20K!

An 05 plate is a little old to be one of the 15..

Anyhow his valuation of my current vehicle is under market value, so I am revoking my interest..

I believe this was the case with another forum member a little while ago, appears this dealer needs to narrow his margins..

Unless you have access to the trade guides everyone thinks their car is under value at the moment due to the absolute hammering used car prices have had in the last 9 months.

Exactly, Trade in prices are down, how much by is debateable and dependant on the vehicle. However used car prices at dealers on the whole haven`t moved contrary to belief. In all traders are making a good return on vehicles sold which were traded in prior. I can assess trade guides, believe me his offer was under..

Monaro's are one of the few exceptions due to the fact not many are around and the prices on them have not moved a huge amount.

Trade in prices are down but on cars in general that are for sale the prices they are up at are also very much down as well, peoples margins on cars have not altered especially as people can not afford to be greedy in times like these.

I dont agree, forecourt prices havent moved greatly contrary to belief.

Likewise for many other goods and services..

If they have not moved in your area then must be something up, the prices people pay are massively down and their margins are the same, so unless they have the same old stock that they had 9 months ago that they cant afford to reduce then cant think why its not dropped.

Ive seen prices on both sides reduced hugely, and even the customers see the difference when they are coming in.

I suspect that the '500 isn't going to be a car that sell's quickly, after all a good many of the potential owners, I suspect are on this site and are in the same boat as yourself. It's a cult car rather than a common or garden M3 or Boxster. Perhaps the best plan would be to sell your own car privately to someone just entering our select band and going to the dealer with cash. Who knows he might give you a discount to take it off his hands in the present climate.

I think it will sell, just might take some time. Someone who has wanted a Monaro for a long time and knows about the 500 series will get the money together and decide to take the plunge. Especially when they see that a good stock LS2 will set them back 15k+ and look at how much the APs, Rippy, Wortec pipes and suspension costs to fit new...

Overpriced in my view too.

May be worth reading some of V8mate's auction posts in general gassing - almost all cars are being bought for well OVER book price at auction this year - by main dealers desperate to survive on 2nd hand car sales as new cars are flatlining. Their part-ex prices are even more of a piss take at the moment than they normally are as they are so out of sync with their buying philosophy from elsewhere.

In short, sell privately if you can and bid him in the nuts for cash.
