Had the car 2 weeks now, done circa 500 miles in it which is good considering its for weekend use only and I have only been off 1 weekend (keep driving it for no reason!) The car is 2007 registered and has done just under 9k miles.

However a number of problems are surfacing, some very minor and others a bit more serious. Other than a few cosmetic issues which I will need to sort out the following has been noticed with it:

1. Very bad judder/vibration under braking, gets worse the harder that brake, tried it a few times today actually starts to pull the wheel from your hands under heavy braking which isnt good. Problem seems quite common and appears to be the pads (thanks to the fish and others for pointers on that), is this likely to be covered under warranty and even if it is will I just get the same problem again if they put the same replacement parts back on?

2. Car battery seems extremely low on power when trying to start, was terrible today and didnt think it would actually go but just fired, this was only after being sat unused for 2 days. Any common faults with this or is the battery knackered as it will have been on since 2005?

3. Paint peeling off on drivers door handle, again a common fault but is it a warranty item?

4. 3rd brake light in spoiler only half of it works and on closer inspection appears to be full of moisture, wire is extremely short to try and do anything with and I dont fancy trying to take the spoiler off. Any ideas and again warranty?

5. Brake calipers appear to be losing the odd chunk of red paint, its in places that are impossible knock the paint off with say taking the wheels off and catching them, minor but annoying especially if keeps getting worse?

6. Finish on the wheels isnt brilliant and does appear to be either changing colour in places or coming off slightly, not bad at the moment but isnt going to get any better (none have been damaged in any way)?

7. Wheel nut covers are losing the chrome finish? (I said some things were very minor lol)

Other than a couple of rattles in side and the absolutely terrible stereo systm im still very happy with the car, just need the above bits sorting out. Thanks for looking and any advice is most welcome.

1. Yes, build up of deposits on discs probably. Get decent pads and they will sort the problem.
2. 3-4 years on a battery is about right (build year 2005, so yours is about ready to be changed).
3. Yes, (but good luck). Some have had it done under warranty, others saved the hassle and did their own.
4. Sorry, no experience of that one.
5. Speak to Mel (Bonnie and Clyde) similar issues.
6. Not unheard of, but unlikely to be a warranty issue.
7. As above.

Here my bit,

1, Im trying to get my front disks replaced as i type this and they are saying no st the moment, so i think ill have to shout louder shout
2, My battery is getting a bit week when cranking over, so i think ill get warrenty to fit me a new one
3, My door handle is peeling aswell but ill get it done myself
4, The 3rd spoiler brake light i had replaced 1 year ago under warrenty but theres water in it again so i think its time for another one.
5, My Brake calipers are fine, dont think you will get warrenty to do anything about them.
6, Not sure what they can do about them
7, They should replace them i think, aslong as it wasnt caused by a tyre fitter pulling them off with a pair of grips lol

Hasnt your rear spoiler scratched the boot in the middle yet? Some people have had that done under warrenty.

sorting out. Thanks for looking and any advice is most welcome.

Surely the dealer you bought the car from should be rectifying any mechanical problems? The law states that he must guarantee the car for 6 months where it was purchased at normal retail price and that any faults that develop during the 6 month period are deemed to have been present when the car was purchased. (See Daily Telegraph Motoring Section today-'Honest John' questiona and answers.

I will get in touch with the local vaux dealer that did monaro's. Garage got it from has a big get out clause on the invoice so they wont be much use!

There no such thing in law. It is illegal for them to attempt to undermine your statutory rights.
