Hi,

I life in Belgium and after a stay in Australia some time ago i am still crazy about the Holden Utes. I would like to drive one in Belgium. Since you have them in the U.k., it should be possible. Is it an official import in the u.k.? To get one into Belgium from the U.K. the easiest way would be with a so called COC Certificate of Conformity which means it is complying with all the EU legislations. Can anybody tell me if that would be possible? Or maybe just more about the way they are imported into the U.K.?

Thanks,

Mark

Hopefully others will help....but I do know the Ute was never an officially imported car into the UK.

Only the "Vauxhall" Monaro, and its newer counterparts the VXR8

I don't think the Ute would have EU wide type approval. I'm not even sure the Monaro has! It complies with UK legislation which does vary from EU type approval.

They are also all Right hand drive.
You could buy one in the UK and keep it UK registered then just drive it around the continent no problem.
Will Belgium let you drive a right hand drive car?

Thanks for your reply. In which way are they imported/ homologated in the U.K.? It is not a single vehicle approval or?
Right hand drive is not a big problem i have imported a caterham before in Belgium with RHD, they accept it because the U.K. is also EU, they have to.

Hi Mate,

Yes all us ute owners are crazy. I can't really help you, as much as would like to, as I brought mine back from New Zealand as a personal import. The rules are different for that. I had to go through an SVA which was quite a reasonable process. I also know that the normal SVA is a lot more difficult for the dealers. I would think you would have to get in touch with your local transport body to see what the rules are. As for the COC, I'm not sure if this is volume related. The only "official" import I know was a VZ R8 Maloo imported by Vauxhall. I think Wortec know something about this as they own it.

If you are going to import one from the UK can you run it on UK plates? In any case as it it already within the EU and has passed a member states requirements, how would that stand? (Not an expert in this kind of legislation)

Good Luck with finding a ute (Hope its Holden/HSV though) and let us know how you get on?
