Many thanks to Mark at Rapid-GB for his patience today. I had a problem with my tune, having fitted a new cam, only yielding 329 rwhp but 400 rwft lbs torque, something was radically wrong.

I spent about three hours with Mark on his Dyno and he managed to find the lost horse power. With a bit more time spent fine tuning, a total in excess of 100(rw)hp was picked up to my amazement.

Thanks so much for that. Mark even sorted the horrid idle out as well, while he was at it. The drive back was truly amazing for this cam and headers only motor!

I can't divulge the cost, but let's say it was the best money spent, and cheapest £ per HP, on my motor so far.

Mark found more than 50 extra horses for me, and more than an extra 50ftlbs of torque on mine. Likewise, the drive home (and it wasn't very far!) was totally different from the drive there!
Well impressed! I think that he is under-rated as a spannerman, or perhaps he hides his light under a bushel (etc).

Yep, Mark is a fella. You can't argue with the benefits of a custom dyno tune. If the measured output isn't as anticipated, you've an opportunity work out why, address it and get a good remap at the same time.

Cheers Mark & Nicky.

PS toying with the idea of borrowing my way out of the recesion. Do me a deal on a stroker.

So what was actually wrong ? Was the cam installed incorrectly or something ?

Nothing wrong IIRC, just untuned at first run. Mainly fueling I think Gareth said.
He has a fast90 and AFR heads to add to the mix soon, which should add another 30-40bhp IMO.

Should be another NA mascacre hehe..

GM High-Tech mag arrived today and got some good articles on upgrades for LSX of the normally aspirated variety, some cams, some heads, valvetrain type upgrades with a breakdown on before and after dyno tunes across a series of cars/engine combos. Nice Pontiac GTO with twin turbo setup running 680rwhp out an LS2 stroker with boost only at 13 psi. Probably a bit basic for some on here but I feel I've got a far better understanding of some of it now - oh a better understanding and a series desire to spend money I dont have on lots of engine bits lol.

Got to agree with other posters on Mark - always found him to be a very decent guy and done a bit of work on my car in the past, always willing to offer advice across the phone and help make it easier to part with your cash . Would also say that I've found the same of Roger at Monkfish when I've spoken with him or bought bits and pieces. I think we should consider ourselves very lucky to have 2 companies that support us with such enthusiasm and professionalism.

Mark has a load of crate engines to choose from IIRC.
Buying engine parts is fun smile

lalalalalala I'm not listening, I'm not going near any interweb type part shops and I'm not gonna try get Mark to smuggle an engine up to me with my radiator tomorrow. She who must be obeyed would notice if I had to buy another shed to store it in - had to do that already for the spare LS1 I have atm. I've already got a set of poly bushes for the front, an LS7 clutch, a 9psi Maggie charger, a gauge pod, one of your Innovate sensors and a new radiator to fit - anyone got a spare garage and knows one end of spanner from another, happens to be off work next week and takes bottles of beer for payment?

No mechanically OK (I did that myself). Just the tune was a country mile out on the fueling. (probably my fault as I am still on the learning curve with efi live).

Very happy chappy at the moment.

what's that strange looking thing attached to the inlet manifold and why does it have no pulley? Looks like it belongs on some sort of low powered, retro ditch pump.

I dont think you will make it to the dyno day mate, you will twist your driveshaft in half, while my untuned ditch pump will scare all the children smile
