I am meeting up with ferb at donington tomorrow and he wants to see if his pcm is locked i know i need to register a new licence to use it on another car but will it waste a licence if his is locked ?

not sure that you will use a licence, I downloaded a tun file from a spare ecu last week and it didnt seem to affect my licence count. Might be wrong but isnt it only if you want to write a tun file that it uses a licence?

On the subject of efilive if anyone is planning on uploading a custom os to do the valet mode thing I've got a few spare pins for inserting into the plug with your switch wire. Ordered 10 from a US supplier last week and they arrived today. Happy to send a couple to first 3 folk that ask for them. Tried ringrams suggestion of using pins from a pc case but they were too tight to fit well.

No license will be lost unless you want to write back changes. You can download unlicensed vehicles no problem.
Just make sure you chose the right controller.

PS: Yeah my PC case pin needed to be opened out a little, but it fit eventually. The valet mode works very well. There was/is supposed to be one for the VXR8 which doesnt need any pins, just the efilive handset. I had a beta, but its on the back burner while some other features are implemented first.

just email me a postal address - and I'll send you a couple, they only cost about 40p each inc the postage from the states so I aint looking for anything for them, happy to share the spares out if folk want them. You'll only need one but better to send two in case of any mistakes in clamping the wire into them - I'm just using a small set of pliers and then a touch of solder to make sure.
