30 vs 40mph limit!
Discussion
On my daily drive to work I've noticed over the last 6 months that all of the previously 40mph areas have been dropped to 30mph...! WTF for as driven some of these roads on and off for 10yrs now and not seen an accident on them in these areas bar the odd bit of road kill. What justifies this reduction as I appreciate traveling slower will reduce accidents since it allows more time for stipid people to react but they seem to base it on braking distances. I would be interested to see how some of the s*it heaps that commute our roads would fair when compared to my Ro or M5 in the braking department! It would be interesting to see say an old focus or vectra brake test against my Ro... from 40mph.
Although harder to police bad driving should be viewed as the main reason for causing accidents, be it on purpose or simply cos the driver is mentally restricted (dumb!).... mind you that does not make headline news for the rags or generate money for the local council rip offs. People being banged up for speeding is stupid unless this can be tied into poor driving etiket (spelling!) where other drivers have had to take avoiding action. I see stupid over taking, undertaking and serious bully boy tactics every day in my comute and not a plod in sight to catch them!
Rant over. (an no I have not just been caught)

S600VXR, are the routes busy during rush hour ie traffic jams or are they purely residential roads? It can actually speed up traffic/reduce bottle necks if the speed is reduced - take m'ways for example, in a 50mph roadworks zone EVERYONE does 50, so the traffic flows - outside that you still get the idiot doing 50 in the overtaking lane, so stops the 70 flow and causes tailbacks... not very well explained but I hope you get my drift.
BTW M4 Cardiff by the tunnels is now a 50 zone for no apparent reason - its a fecking motorway - you're meant to go fast or what's the point in having them???????????

Its the same here. If 40's havent been reduced to 30, some 30 zones have been extended.
Many of these changes have not been well signposted either.
I did read once that some people had fought speeding tickets in 30 zones, as they deemed the 30 zone was illegal.
As far as I know, there are a lot of legal procedures a council etc must go through, before a permanent speed change can be made. I wouldnt be surprised if half of these new limits arent actually legal.
Apart from signage, lamp posts and other issues....any changes are supposed to be advertised in the press, as well mas signposted that they have been changed as far as I know.
WOuld be nice if some of the legal people could enlighten us ?
Perhaps this same post in the main chat section of PH might get more response ?

We all know speed is the issue and it should be stamped out at the earliest opportunity.
If no one ever broke the speed limit there would be no accidents or Deaths on our superb roads.
Here is the proof.

No chance of anyone in government ever reading this, they are too busy running the country into the ground.

I'd rather f**king walk

Don’t worry, that will be the next initiative, after the introduction of shoe tax.

Laugh all you like. Personally, for work and a daily runabout, I would drive one.
Nut....only after they also subsidise building a wind turbine at my house to charge it.
Then I could be mobile, without paying the dirty lowlife greedy corrupt b
ds in government a single penny. That would be worth it, and it would save me more money to spend on my V8

I'd quite happily drive a tesla if I was given one... however at 98k I don't think thats likely ;-)
Hah - you should live out near cambridge - one local authority has declared that it is no longer going to repair potholes in the roads as this encourages drivers to slow down FFS.

I think m'lud
might get quite busy finding against the council and awarding damages to drivers of damaged vehicles who will be able to quote that the said council knew of the pot holes prior to aggrieved motorists having their car suspensions busted. PS Thanks to the moderator for installing Spell-Checker.
No more excuses for inebriated sessions at the keyboard and primary school spelling errors! That includes Bonnie/Stig. Just had a thought, are you one and the same person??
