Well pissed off Saturday,
I just fitted a pair of new rear boots cleaned and polished the Ro ready for a weekend drive.I popped out for a spin and saw a nice new Audi S5 V8 blasting down the road,I floored it and BANG! at about (fast)leptons. I limped the short mile home with a bad viberation coming through the body but engine was fine.
Just jacked it up and found 1 of the propshaft bolts had bolted after making a massive dent in the exhaust and the underbody.
Vauxhall fitted a new rear diff oil seal 4 months ago and obviously hadnt tightened the 3 bolts to the correct torque.
Does anyone know if the bolts should have been replaced when they are removed or treadlock put on the treads?
So back on the phone to Vauxhall and they can come to me now and pick the car back up.

Very frustrating for you. I hope you get it sorted in a timely and unexpensive fashion.

According to the Pontiac GTO and the V2 Holden manuals the bolts for the propshaft joints should be disguarded and replaced but the bolts for the axle driveshafts are reused

Hope there's no further damage Andy. Out of interest (and bearing in mind the naming and shaming policy) did you have the work done in North Essex?

Does that stop bolts undoing them self then? Only if i had thought of that one i would have left the car in the garage. Why have a 6ltr engine then?

well no matter what the engine size the limit is the limit. Why have a car with more than 600cc's for that matter? Dont question why I have a large capacity car when you are publically stating doing 120leptons on the road. Glass houses here and you're the one on the inside throwing stones at me, on the outside, doing a naked hoola dance whilst sipping lemmon tea

Thanks Mel, I just called the dealer that took the prop off last and they asked me if i could drive it the 40miles down to them. I think the viberation would make the other 2 bolts fall out and damage even more.
So im now waitting for customer services to call me back and they can arrange recovery.
One good thing i found out when calling the dealer was after doing 18,000 miles im getting new front disks and pads under warrenty Well done customers services on that one

I would have but Vauxhall had to order a bolt, and there is other damage under there which they are liable for.
But i will make sure they locktight them in when they refit them.
