Hit and run ..... and return on foot with his mum ... BIB OK
Discussion
I'm working down in Hook near Basingstoke at the moment, contracting. I finished work at 5:00pm, decided to go for a nice sauna and steam to unwind and relax. Coming out of the gym and heading back to rented house I'm tootling down the road, coming from the 50mph zone, into the 40mph then down into the village itself.
Traffic is starting to get busy, what with it being around 6;00pm so I slow to around 20mph as it's a small village and the 'Ro is a big car.
As I come into the village I notice a blue Citroen Saxo sticking out of a side street on my left, the young lad driving is about 1.5-2 foot out of the street and into the left hand side of my lane, not indicating just sat there with the nose of his car blocking my lane. I roll up, about 2-3 foot off his car flash and gesture for him to do something as the cars coming the other way make it impossible for him to pull out if he is heading right (no indication).
He gives me the finger and smiles, so I flash again and give the engine a little rev to try and encourage him to either back into the side street or move.
What he does next was comical, he then decides to pull out, completely blocking my lane, however has has turned right enough to come into contact with my car, scrapping all along the front, smiling as he does it. Once clear of my car and turning right he stops, by this time his bonnet is level with my drivers side wing mirror, he looks back and what he's done, sticks his car into reverse, right hand down fully and mouths "f**k off, watch this" with speed reverses back and smashes my drivers wing in, gives me the finger and laughs, then drives off with speed.
I immediately pull over the car behind me and the car he almost hit coming the other way pull over and give me their details, both asking things like "what the hell did he do that for?" and "is that guy mental?"
Both witnesses are willing to back up my story. Now I'm calling 999 stating hit and run, takes 10-15 minutes to get my details and call all wrapped up. 10 minutes later I then get back into my car as I notice a police car coming up the road. I pull off and drive into the middle of the main road, at which point a young lad (the same one I think) and his mother come walking down the street shouting "oi, you come here NOW" I reply "I'd rather be in the presence of a witness if I speak to you" so I flag down the police car and explain what's happening.
One of the cops takes my details and the other takes the young lads. End of the story the police say 50/50 fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The kid said I hit him, then swung around and hit him again as he tried to pull over, he then apparently felt threatened and panicked and drove off. I did explain that if I had hit a Saxo on the drivers side you would be picking pieces of the driver up from outside of the passenger side of his car.
I did mention that I have to witnesses, one of whom was going to give chase as the lad left the scene, however seeing as he came back, on foot, no car, unsure as to whether 100% it's the same lad, with his mum makes it's OK as he's now not being charged with leaving a scene of an accident.
How in the name of Christ on a bike does that work? Apparently I'm a threatening person, erm, ask Raggyman I'm 5' 8", about 10 stone, I was in a cream suit with a pink shirt on. Yes I'm scary in the same way Graham Norton with a stubbed toe is scary ..... jeez.
Either way, I have a lovely scuffed front bumper, cracked in both corners, a damaged headlight and a smashed drivers wing. Lovely.
I've contacted my insurance company and his, just need to pay my excess and get it sorted than chase the issue in court, as you can tell I'm a little pee'd off.
Have a lovely weekend people.

Hmmmm. Had all the right ingredients. Unlucky that you got one of the less stable ones. Maybe use the horn too next time. I find that usually puts the fear of god into them....Citroen Saxo

The joy of care in the community eh?
just doing my voice of experience bit, I had a similar thing happen a few years ago when I learned afterward that the little scum bag who drove into me turned out not to have tax or insurance. The reason I mention this is if he took off in the way you describe it may be that he's taxing his car with Newcastle Brown label and that doesn't bode well for him being insured. I took the copper who attended's details (and that of his horse; long story) and wrote to him after the event when I found out that my no claims was at risk. He was good enough to write back confirming my story and when I passed this on to the insurance company they were good enough not to damage my no claims.
If it helps you know the little toe rag will do it again and next time it could just be some gorilla with a 32" neck that gets out of the car he damages.

Both witnesses have been in contact stating that the young lad, in their opinion hit my car, one said twice on purpose and then left the scene at speed. One of them witnessed his gestures, attitude and stupidity. I thanked them both, however one said "once it's fixed please let me have a drive" ha ha ha
He said he nearly wet himself when I revved it

Get an accident management company involved. (theres one recommended in the forums a lot).
Your own insurance may well go knock for knock otherwise (although the witness' help) as then two of you lose your NCB.
That's not what knock for knock is. It's nothing to do with liability.Your own insurance may well go knock for knock otherwise (although the witness' help) as then two of you lose your NCB.
No idea on fix times, Sherwoods of Darlington are going to assess re damage when it's in having the ABS and TC issue sorted. Good thing is my insurance company give me a car of equal power, size and performance to mine.
Hmm, any ideas as to what they'll have to source for me?!?!?
Bet it's a BMW or some other car, I may ask to shop for them.
