I know its been talked about endlessly on here, but I have tried to clear things up with some photos and descriptions of the various Monaro models that were sold by Vauxhall here in the UK, so here goes;
(Please feel free to correct me if I have made any errors)

V2 series111 CV8. The first official Monaro in the UK, sold from early 2004 and built 'til Sept 2004. 5.7 litre LS1 329 bhp/333 ps. Large boot/single sided exhaust etc. Sold in US as Pontiac GTO with 350bhp 5.7 LS1

VZ CV8. Built from Sept 2004 onwards. 5.7 litre 349bhp/354 ps. Smaller boot/ double sided exhaust etc. Sold in US as Pontiac GTO with 400bhp 6.0 litre LS2.

HSV GTO. Sold in UK as 5.7 VXR, built 'til Sept 04. 5.7 litre LS1 379bhp/382ps. Based on V2 series111 above.

HSV GTO 05. Sold in UK as 6.0 VXR, built from Sept 04 onwards. 6.0 litre LS2 397bhp/404ps. Based on VZ Monaro as above.

Also various versions of the Monaro were sold in Australia from its official launch in 2001. Hope this little guide helps clear up some of the confusion.

Like I said, feel free to add your own cars details etc. But what I was aiming to do was clear up the confusion surrounding the Vauxhall badged Monaros that were on sale here from 2004 onwards.

No Bonnie, the 354 refers to ps or, IIRC, 'pferdestarke' which is German for Horsepower (although its slightly less than 1 Brake Horse Power), and strangely Vauxhall choose to use this wierd measure!

I thought the literal translation was "horse-strength"? wink

Yep, love that colour too, also the Brazen Orange I think. Wish VX had been a bit braver with their colour choice!

How would you tell the difference between the pool and the car? You could hide it in the pool!

Friend has a "**** XR 4 By 2" in that colour, always calling it the swimming pool car. Mind you he calls it the Bulldozer.

Simon, looking at the pic in your profile, that's the 333ps model. As well as the smooth bonnet, other external tell tales are... exhaust exits on one side only, no separate side lights at the front just fogs and 'flat' wheels rather than shaped.
