Think he had to 'roll' the arches to make them fit.

(still don't fully understand what 'rolling' the arches means but I assume it means folding them upwards ?)

There is a machine that bolts to the axle and can be tensioned. A wheel contacts the arch and is expanded and rolled to bend the lip upwards. Problem with our cars is that the lip is double skinnned at that point and is very hard to roll without some panel beating and then painting involved.

Roger has had this done and it looks great, but he'll tell you it was more involved than he expected.

The reason i asked was becuase i was thinking about getting some Rota grids staggered, and driftworks either do them as 8.5" or 10", but after speaking to them the 10" wide rotas won't fit unless alot of arch work was done. I'm just waiting for them to check how much extra room the rotas have on the inner rim compared to the standard cv8 wheels, and them i may get some.

Yes I had the arches rolled, no it didnt go to plan as the metalwork on our cars is to thick and the process causes the outside skin to ripple slightly. By rolling I mean there is now no lip on the rear arches as its been folded up and flat against the outter skin. The guy who did it was as carefull as I would have been if id have done it and the ripples still happened so be warned. Jap cars can be done easy as they are not as heavily built and do not have multiple layers of metal in that area.

TBH its alot of hastle, rolled, repaired and resprayed all takes alot of time and alot! of money!

Mind you I am the only person running 10" rims on the rear smile

Get the offset spot on as I have sod all clearence both on the outside and the inside and you also have! to use 25 profile tires on 20" rims otherwise the rear of the arch will just catch. IT does look purposefull mind when done and contributes to my 12.4 qty time. smile

i think i will just play it safe with the 8.5" rim all round as the only available offset for the 10" wide rim would make the wheel stick out alot.

Wheel width isn't the issue. Tyre width, and more importantly, the contact patch size is the key. Hence the reduction in rear camber on Jez's car for increased grip

Better than yours if I can get the power down!

More dyno time has dictated new valve springs and breather system be fitted this week. 15psi not only asks a lot from the tyres!
