Got a set of AP 4 pots to fit to the front of the car next week however have not got any brake fluid, just wondering how much do I need and does the brake fluid need changing for the back brakes at the same time or can I get away with just doing it for the front?

fairly sure I gave my local installer 2x500ml bottles when I had my VXR brakes fitted. If bleeding the front would it not be advisable to carry on do the rears as well for all the extra effort thats involved? Good excuse to give the system a flush through and get it filled with nice new high temp race fluids.

Let me get this right James. Your fitting your own brakes yet you need to ask on a Internet forum how much fluid to put in yikes Good luck

actually thats a fair point - he's fitting his own brakes but couldn't work out how to get the airbox out last week iirc - thats scary, remind me to stay behind him if we're ever in a convoy to a meet together lol.

Cheeky gits.

And no Mel im not fitting them myself, im giving them to a mechanic at work to fit but it would be helpfull to know how much fluid I also need to give him before he starts the job! Have no problem admitting im not mechanically minded at all and wouldnt know where to start!

Oh and the brakes couldnt get any worse than they are now so staying behind me at the moment is the preffered travelling method lol

I changed mine twice in two weeks and got through a 1 litre bottle. Am using Dot 5.1 because that's what the Fishmongers use when upgrading brake systems. Be careful though as you would need more fluid to thoroughly flush the system through with the new stuff.

Unless someone corrects me, I think a litre bottle will do, but for about seven quid a throw I got two just in case.
