I agree, those old ones need to come down a lot.
I dont think people understand that the older holdens are the same family as the newer vauxhall vxr8's

I assume it is the limited numbers of these that keep the prices high.

if you spent 10k on modding a 13k car you will sell the 13k car for between 13 to 15k max. Never would you recoup the costs.

I'm certain that original car has been for sale over the past 3 years at a similar price but could be wrong

Yes it does seem a bit steep but so are a lot of VXR8s for sale paticularly with a new price of less than £27K

What I don't agree with is newer is better / worth more argument - condition, rarity, emotions do come into it as well. Would you go for an E type or XK, a lightweight carrera RS or a 996, a DB5 or a DB7?

The bottom line though is that what a cars worth is what someones willing to pay - if you want a GTS as a keeper (like me)and you don't "want" a VXR8 or a Monaro then your options are limited so there maybe someone out there who would pay that........

.....and if there is they could buy mine for £19K instead!!!!!

no it wont. It has absolutely no pedigree here, none what so ever. It could be gods dangly bits down under but here it has no reputation. That car is over priced, way way over priced. Its so over priced it will be for sale at that price in another 3 years time unless that is a rich Australian is in town.

The point I am making is rarity/individuality. I understand it p1sses some people off, but certain limited runs of vehicles are worth more money to "crack smoking" people who like exclusivity (I am one of them, where is my pipe...). I am not saying the car is worth that money, but I can certainly understand why someone would be willing to pay more for it than a 04 Monaro.
