saw the Monaro on Top Gear and reckoned it looked the dogs dangly bits and like a modern version of the Calibra with a cracking big phuck off engine under the bonnet. Had no clue about Holden/HSV before I started researching it with the view to buy one.

Heard about the HSV commodores many moons ago, but when the coupe (Monaro) came out and then when VX said they would be officially importing them I knew one day I would have one. Having said that the V8 is the major attraction for me, wouldn't have been interested if they were just a V6 for example.

Went to buy an almost new RS4 - got messed about like you would not beleive and that put me off, thought about the new M5 and got scared at the service costs and week electronics, by chance Greens had a VXR500 coming in but not in time for me to drive that month however they had the MD's VXR600 which might be for sale. Drove it really just to increase my experiance at driving other cars and to see what all the fuss was about with 5th gear and top gear reports, scared myself and the rests history. Would prefer a GT3rs or Lambo but im not that rich unfortunately.

When I saw these cars down under with Chev's fitted as motive force, it was a no brainer " I wanted one" as they say. I was sat the Brisbane motor show when the LS1 Gen 3 motor was unveiled and displayed under glass in the floor in pieces, and thought, now there is one superb bit of kit. A tew years later I saw a Silver VZ Maloo in Brisbane when visiting my cousin and swore then I was going to have one. When I decided to shift out to NZ that was the first thing I did. When I came back I chucked in on the ferry to Southampton. Made the mistake of not bringing the Clubby back too even.

I didn't really buy a Holden. I wanted a bigger engine, preferably V8 and a nice looking car, without a huge price tag. The Monaro did all that and is right hand drive. It was just a great Aussie muscle car that Vauxhall kindly imported for me. Holden meant nothing to me back then. If they'd been around as I grew up (or at least aged...) it would be different. To me the Monaro is like the E-Types my Dad used to own when I was a kid.

Having sold my Astra Coupe cause the little 'un was on the way, bought a brand new 4 door jap box, loved driving it but hated it (emotionally)
Needed a coupe to relight my fire, so to speak. Edged towards the peugeot 407 coupe, but THANKFULLY they were too expensive at the time, so found my Ro, and swapped it literally the next day.
This is probably the only car I have owned I have no intention of selling, ever! (atm)

Saw it on Top Gear donkeys days ago, and I thought at that point I must own one... a few years down the line, sold the 350Z and went for it. Wish I could have afforded the two mind you!

Saw the Monaro 500 on Top Gear and despite the knob featuring it, thought that it was fantastic. I could afford it with some money left to me. I could not afford anything else with the same raw power. Went to Greens three days later to test drive it and found the power and sound were incredible.

We hammered an M3 on the motorway testing it, got a huge "well done" wave from the M3 driver and fell in love. It still gives me a hard-on every time I drive it!

Saw one at a show in '07. Loved them but price to high. Told my neighbour about them just as the r8's were released. he then told me a few months later he had test drove an r8 with the vauxhall rep at over 150 leptons down the dual carriageway! Bullshcensoreding bacensoredrd then said he was going to get one straight away. I was gutted but waited for the the price to plummet on the 'ro, which it did. I got 'ro, he never got r8 and promptly moved away. Tw*t
