LS1 engine noise?

my ro`s got 30k on now and i have noticed that when driving with the windows down theres a tapperty sound that comes from the engine at about 2.5-3k revs.is this a problem or do all LS1 engines tap slightly?

Its pretty common actually. Shaft rockers make it a bit quieter as does setting up pushrod length and preload nicely.
(ie) Dont worry about it unless you really want to.

sounds like your exhaust's too quiet to me........

Mine has only got 13,000 miles on it and i noticed a tappety sound on start up the other day, nothing to worry about i don't think. I was even kind of hoping that it was the exhaust begining to show it's age as it would be the perfect excuse to go and blow a bit of hard earned cash on something a bit more.....er, NOISY!!

Mines not noisey, I can't hear anything over the Def Leppard albums ringing in my ears.
