TRUE STORY:

Outside Bristol Zoo there is a car park for 150 cars and 8 coaches.

There also used to be a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 and coaches £5.

This parking attendant worked there for all of 25 years , then one day just didn't turn up for work...

"Ho hum", said Bristol Zoo Management - "better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant" ......


"Err no", said the Council, "that car park is your responsibility" ...

"Err no", said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?" .....

"Err NO!"


Sitting in his villa in Spain is a bloke who had been taking daily the car park fees amounting to an estimated

£400 per day at Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years...

Actually he would have made £190 per day based on that. Based on 364 days per year (closed Christmas Day!) he would have earnt £69,160 pa for a total of £1,729,000 over the 25 years.

I'm willing to give it a go if they are still looking for someone - although it's about time it went up to £5 per car and £20 per coach I reckon....

You're forgetting more than one car will park in each space each day, probably only the 8 coaches as they would be there for the day......
so 8x5=£40
and to make up the £360 = 360 cars.
Remember if THIS IS TRUE these must be average figures.......
so coaches hold 60 ish people, cars on average 3 (going to the zoo, I would say most would have at least one parent a kid or two...)
thats 360x3=1080 people + 60x8=480 people
so ON AVERAGE 1560 people a day passing through the zoo,
adult price 12 quid
kids 7 quid
average £9.50....
so 1560x9.50=£14820
£14820x364 days = £5.4M a year on admission alone.
