Vauxhall have agreed to replace the clutch and wiper linkage for my VXR8 under warranty but I was told there aren't any available parts in the UK and they are on back order. It's now over a week later and they're still showing on back order. Is this normal and how long can I expect to wait?

No ETA as yet. Sounds like it could be a long wait then.

It's a lottery to be honest.
I got a new door motor in 3 dayy and coolant hoses in a week. I've heard of parts taking months though...

Hi,

I was told yesterday - lower control arm for my VXR8 is on back order expected eta 31 August !

This is into the UK ( Vauxhall Luton) expect another 2 weeks to get to my local dealer so a part available off the shelf in Oz is taking 3 months to get to the UK !

God the Oz convict ships did,nt take that long !....what can you do?

If in a hurry, the only thing you can do is source the aprts Direct from Oz at your own expense.

Bit of a nightmare really.

We only use the fastest oar powered boats! I responded in your other thread about the control arms. I am guessing they have just run out of stock in the UK and have to wait until they can get 8 people to man the scull to row it to the UK.

Seems excessive, on the water shipping from China is approx 6 weeks, so it shouldn't be much more if coming on the water from Oz.

Vauxhall have to wait until there's enough demand to make it financially worthwhile though if stuff is out of stock, they're not going to send an order for 1 item, then another the next day etc. They'll have regular shipping dates booked in advance I suspect so you'll be waiting for the next due date and your order will be in a container with lots of other bits and pieces and probably have to go to Germany first to the distribution centre before going to Vauxhall UK and then the dealer. I'd be tempted to order one up myself from Oz and then ask the dealer to negotiate on either paying the full cost or at least splitting it with me, worst case write it off to experience - hell the car will have devalued by a lot more than the cost of the part in the two months you're going to wait!!

Frankly, it is the normal Vauxhall dismal customer service.

Nothing to do with 'until there's enough demand to make it financially worthwhile to order'.

You have a current model car, by far the most expensive in the Vaux range, an agreed warranty job - and they don't have a bloody clutch plate in stock?! How's that for stock planning - they don't expect 400hp cars to wear clutches?! They aren't fit to trade.

The real insult to you is that they are saying they then want 2 weeks to get the part from Luton to the dealer. WTF is that all about? Can anyone, in this day and age, honestly defend that statement? Customer SERVICE should mean same day, by special courier if necessary.

It's a real shame in some ways because they have great cars and (a few)great dealers but the back-up support system and attitude is consistent garbage. My experience [3 yrs,45k miles, one breakdown and two warranty claims] would be acceptable though appalling compared to my wife's perfect Honda - if it weren't for the lamentable pain of dealing with Vaux cust service.

It's no surprise to me that GM are going bankrupt - they've earned it. How are you enjoying your Corsa 1 L loan car?

(Love the 'ro though and no plans to change it!)

Vauxhalls part supply issues are becoming a growing problem even on some of the mainstream cars we had to wait a month for an egr valve for a Vectra recently. Been Wondering if the problem relates to the companys that supply them holding back parts in case they dont get paid??

I think it took 8 weeks to get an ABS sensor for mine, which didn't resolve the issue anyway. However my 1.2l Corsa Design is awesome, never ever have I had such a capable off road car, bounding over 1 foot mud rises when camping, mounting 8" curbs without issue and excellent for drying wet suits inside in the sun.

Yeah Im sure the parent companies financial position isnt helping matters.

Im about to commence a warranty visit for a dodgy aircond unit.

If the clutch is an LuK one (as the CV8 is) then it may well be made in the UK.

In reply to Well Plans comments on Vauxhalls supply chain model, you are most probally right but this ONLY serves Vauxhall / GM not the customer ! having to wait 3 months for parts which will require replacement through normal wear and tear is simply unacceptable.....

Sorry for the rant but the VXR8 marketing should include statements about the poor spares supply chain so you know BEFORE you buy what you are letting yourself in for.........

The Vauxhall answer to this is to give you a hire car no promises on what the car will be (no doubt diesel Corsa !) but you MUST leave your car at their dealers premises to make sure you are not using it!! ...what customer trust and who fancies leaving their pride & joy outside in the dealers car park for 3 months !!!

My local Vauxhall dealer ( Sherwoods) in fairness agrees this is simply unbeliveable and are taking it up with Vauxhall HQ

I will keep you informed, remember all this is a £100 part !!!

No need to apologise for the rant - you have every right to be p'd off.

If Vaux had an ounce of commercial life remaining they would be on this forum apologising, but they are past salvation. I just pity their poor dealers.

If you do manage to get a hire car authorised (Vaux don't work weekends, you are only allowed to break down Mon-Fri) it will be a Corsa 1.0l petrol. Even slower than the diesel :-).

[My dealer was so embarrassed they rang me every day for a week offering to take it back and loan me a Vectra - at their, not Vaux's, expense. THAT is customer service].

trading standards. It is a legal requirement to hold stock of parts for 10 years if a car is sold officially in Europe
