Deal or No Deal ??
Discussion
Went to the VXR day at Brands recently and saw the new Insignia VXR on a stand.
Its a good looking car and with 325Hp and 4wd is a real contender.
Whilst it was a ststic display only I did drive the 2.0l turbo 4WD non VXR version though and it was really really good, so I`d expect the VXR version to shine.
Thing is its priced at £31k ish, higher than that for a VXR8, and as they launch it in Sept I think there is the chance that Vauxhall would really like to sell as many VXR8`s as they can before they do, once its launched who in their right mind would pay a £4k premium for a lesser(on paper) car.
And I`m sure thay expect to shift a fair few Insignias over the next few years so they won`t want to discount them in order to address the balance as that would only have the effect of devaluing the entire Vauxhall range.
You are probably in a very very strong position to get an awesome deal over the next few months. If I were Vauxhall once the Insignia was launched I`d be looking to halt the VXR8 line and take the hit on remaining stock.
Try asking for a blower or other mods to be thrown in, play dealers off each other and choose a small one where a VXR8 is a large stock item. Then buy from the one you like best knowing you have the best deal. (You`ll probably get the same offer on your Monaro from all the dealers when you tell them how much you have been offered)

Holy Crap! That's tempting.
Anyone wanting to be a V8 owner, this is the last generation to have the chance.
And it looks like Vauxhall are ditching their stocks. No more HSV imports, as Jez intimated the focus is now on Insignia. Hell knows what will happen to after sales support from here on in?

Deal
Especially if it is an LS3
It is the LS3, and I've just put my name on the short list for one. The deal is that they need at least 10 people ordering to do it.Especially if it is an LS3
From what I have gleaned reading between the lines, there are about 100 cars left in the UK and I pretty much think when they're gone they're gone.
Don't know now whether to wait until they are trying to shift the last few. Sub 20K?

i see ur thinking ... very good logic
i'm thinking i'll look to switch to an ls3 sooner rather than later now .. i only got my vxr8 ls2 with 18k miles a couple of months ago. so maybe at sub 20k and when ls2's network q 12 mths are up it could well be a trip down memory lane with vxl warranty but on the ls3 ... unless it gets nicked then it'll be a whole new ballgame

TBH You don't need to blow your dough. The LS2 is a fantastic platform for upgrading your power. If you are going to blow more than 5 grand on the swap, you might as well get a blower fitted to yours and end up with much more poke than an LS3.
very true
5 grand is alot .. basically just to get a clean bill of health to start modding again 5 grand just for that confidence of being the first owner doesnt look too sensible
Yeah if its got a good history then someone else would have spent half their ownership duration in a corsa getting all the essential warranty items fixed. Like battery charging, indicators, etc. Better to save some money and get one with all that done to it.
Im not sure if the LS3 ones are better in that regard or not.
Mine is off to Motorbodies tomorrow for Aircond fix. We shall see how we go there..

Several dealers doing similar deals for the base model. I couldn't resist, but added the Wortec exhaust/suspension/remap pack.
So you bought one then? How much was the car price without mods? BTW Congrats anmd enjoy.
Yes, but don't actually have the car yet. Take the goodies off @list price and base price was under £26K.

Yeah first UK one, but they had been made in Oz for at least 6 months beforehand. Still at least it had 2 years warranty left on it when I got it. Got 10 months to go so Aircond is next to be sorted out along with the contol console which has played up since the begining.Hopefully by the end of the period its all sorted

Just saw on vxronline that Motorbodies are advertising 09 reg ones for £24995 or so http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=73...
Im assuming thats for the LS3 one. Very good price!
