Ok so apparently Motorbodies have discovered my aircond belt comes off at under power. Lucky Ive set a valet tune in there, Im sure they dont need more than 4000rpm and 65mph wink
I know some of you SC blokes also have this problem, which appears due to faster reving engines.

Seems to be 2 fixes. One sure fire one seems to be to add an idler pulley back into the system, the second to try a slightly shorter belt.

I wonder if anyone has done either of these fixes and how its going?
Second question what size is the standard belt?

Yeah earlier monaro's have an idler pulley. Roger mentioned this was the problem to me a while back.
I think Paramoreg or Phantom mentioned they had the issue. Sorry mate its an exclusive club you have to own at vxr8.
I think it could be also to do with my underdrive pulley, which may require a shorter belt anyway. I guess Ill grovel on the ground and check it out.

So, to join your exclusive club we have to have a 4 door car with indicators that throw fits, the radio occasionally works, the centre console displays when it wants to (and in pretty colours), the aircon takes holidays and its drive belt falls off. Might find it hard to recruit members, mate.
Sorry Richard,cant help it.

Yeah but they're only £25k now and the door paint doesn't flake.

Having had the main pulley wheel, air con tensioner and belt replaced under warranty 2 days before selling it, I heard the belt came off again on the chap who bought it, but this time it seems some damage was caused (dunno what) and Vauxhall birmingham said they wouldnt touch it due to supercharger!

I told performance direct to tell the chap the dealer is talking rubbish, the info about vauxhall bristol only just doing the replacement job under warranty and to speak to Stu Harris if he's having dealer issues, but doesnt sound good either for the car or the poor new owner!

Im covinced you could get away with a slightly shorter belt so the tension is greater as the tensioner will be further along its travel. Bit like a corvette in fact. Real struggle to get them on.

I'll get round to trying a shorter belt

Rich - surely it would be routine to use a shorter belt with a smaller underdrive pulley? or is the next size to short to make it around?

Ok, bad news. My VX supplied £32 belt came off on the day after it was fitted.

I ordered a shorter one from camskill who ship them direct from the manufacturer for £7! +£3 postage.
Im trying a 4pk1075 (if I can squeeze it on) so Ill let you other lads know how it goes so you can sort yourselves out if it works ok.

But they look like a good place to get drivebelts anyway, loads of choice of lengths and widths. Plus same day shipping.. apparently..

Its unusual for a belt to actually jump off, you checked pulley alignment?
If you have a weak, or flexing bracket, say on the aircon pump, a shorter belt would compound the problem too

Vx said alignment was ok, its an underdrive and Mr Fish also said it was loose from the factory.
So it will need a shorter one anyway... Ill see how it goes.
