Still un decided about changing the Monaro VXR for a VXR8.
Drove a std LS2 VXR8 and the drive was good.
I looked at the fuel consumption and it was reading an average of 13.3MPG.
My Ro has never been anywhere near as low as that.
What typical MPG figures are VXR8 owners getting?

Mine was 24mpg over 3-4000 miles mixed driving with 95 octane and just a basic tune to lean out WOT when standard.
Id suggest the car you drove was the demo thrash.
I have no doubt if you hammer it around town that 13mpg is about right. But throw more senisble driving in the mix and some motorway cruising and you should definately see over 20mph while still doing a few full throttle runs.

One thing of note is that the older LS1 monaro's had a lean cruise mode where under light load the ECU would run around 16:1 AFR this helped reduce pumping losses etc at cruise. Later ECU's did not have this function, probably due to NOx emissions rules etc. Therefore while later cars are more "environmentally friendly", (ie less toxic emissions), they burn more fuel. Thats a nice situation to ponder.

My 2x 20 miles daily commute on A1M, M25 and M1 during rush hour varies from 18mpg to 21mpg - slow traffic is the killer.

Next 2x 40 miles commute.

My LS1 was doing 13mpg until the lean cruise was sorted out on the last tune, now averages about 17mpg combined. Not exactly frugal but power comes from burning petrol I guess.

my LS1 powered monaro did 420 miles on a single tank at motorway speeds and still claimed to have 20 left in the tank!!!! Wasn't exactly driving like Miss Daisy and encountered traffic on several occasions on the way down from home to south Wales.

VXR8 LS3 to France and back on new engine, 570 miles each way, part motorways with a fair few hours of urban work as well, averaged exactly 23.7mpg there and 23.7mpg back, nothing if not consistent.

Averaged 53 mph on way back which reflects the urban pieces. Motorway only was 25.9mpg. Reasonable load & 3 up.

All from trip computer so not measured from fueling direct.

On my VXR8, on a run i got around 25mpg (me + 3 kids and wife and boot full of luggage), on the commute which is a classic mixed drive (DC / A road / through town) 20/21mpg.

I've done 2000 miles in the month that I've owned it & I'm averaging 21.something.

Like it's been said town driving kills the mpg, stick it on the motorway & it soon comes back up.
Over the bank holiday weekend I went to South Wales & managed to average 32mpg, steady 80 on the motorway both ways.

LS3 VXR8 with Wortecs etc and still running in around town about 17/18 but I have just done a run run Stockport to Southampton non stop at motorway speeds and achieved 25. This is about the same as the LS2 Monaro I had.
