Locally prices have been creeping up by about a penny a litre a week since the end of April when it was 93.9 for unleaded and diesel was 99.9. Yesterday I noticed that NUL was 101.9 and poxy DIESEL was 100.9.

Investors chronicle said that the blame for the rise in prices can be laid firmly at the door of the speculators as demand is down and the world is "awash" with spare capacity. They also commented that they think the bubble will burst in the near future and the speculators will take a severe hit - hope so you b......s.

n.b. as a protest I drove home in a sedate manner last night and got 16.9mpg. Take that you moneygrabbing so and sos.

Thats good. Most places here are looking around 105.9 for diesel, and same, or more for UL

It seems my local Shell garage didn't want to sell my fuel tonight. A few mins before I pulled in the low fuel beep went off yet the pump cut off after 50 litres and refused to dispense any more unless you half pressed the handle as you do, which I wasn't risking wet feet for! When I drove off the gauge was between the full and 1/8th marker.

The indirect benefit of higher fuel prices is less cars on the road.
Or if Im wrong, tons of small horrible slow cars blocking all lanes.

I find the pumps at my loacl Asda do this, cutting out beforethe Ro's properly full. Must be something to do with back pressure in the filler spout.
