hi guys, im changing the oil and plugs today and have a somewhat of a dilema.......on my last oil change i used fuchs titan supersyn 5w30 (recommended for gm cars). i bought some titan xtr 5w30 and im thinking of putting that in. problem im having is its recommended for fords.

am i right in thinking the only difference in the oils will be the drain intervals? for most vauxhalls isnt it like 20k now??

this shouldnt really apply to me because i drop mine every 5k.......will this titan stuff be up to standard?

cheers kyle

At 5k intervals any high quality oil will be fine with around that viscosity rating.

its all marketing

just make sure you use the correct grade and type

Back when ELF were in F1 I believe Renaul only recommended their fuel. Its years back so cannot remember team/brand but you get the gist.

Read an article a little while ago that changing oils more frequently than recomemnded actually increases engine wear.

Things like total oil capacity and the efficiency of the filter were more important. I think some nutter did some really long tests like 25,000 just changing filters and topping up and his oil analysis was still bang on.

Ill try and dig the info out.

Anyway based on that I just keep to the recommended in the manual. The VE's have larger corvette sumps over the older inferior cars from the last millienium like the monaro etc smile
