Strokers seem better than chargers?

It seems you guys love your chargers, there seems more charged than stroked, but doesnt stroking seem to wield better results? similar money too.
Sorry about your car yesterday. Let us know how you get on with getting her fixed. Better luck at the next one. Snatch was supposed to give you the Trophies you won, hope he has?Difficult one to answer, there were no cars to compare directly.
Anything blown was either 5.7 or 6.0, anything stroked or high performance NA was either 7.0 or running drag tyres or wasn`t in a Holden, which would make a pointless comparison.
However the winner of the eliminator was blown, and all the big NA`s broke something launching harder so I guess there`s a lot to be said for having to launch gently or spin

I think the trouble is the stoker option isn't offered as a package like the supercharger is here. WPUK, Monkfish and Rapid all offer a supercharged package. Don't see anyone offering a stroker package. Plus there's the speed of turnaround.Richard makes a good poster child for it, but nobody will be offering to do the job for what he paid. Once is gets semi-diy a lot of folk walk on by. Not saying I agree, but that's the way it goes. Supercharger becomes Hobson's choice.
Monkfish are offering a camshaft upgrade, so maybe the tide is turning.
Like I said:
You can have pretty much whatever you like if you ask for it. A stroked motor afterall is just a different throw crank? Far easier to set yourself a goal, and go to your mechanic of choice with your wallet open.
I'm not sure 383 or 427 makes much difference with FI as you can get 900hp out of either. After that you need an iron block from what I gather.

The simple reason is as stated above - no one does a kit like a charger setup and whilst I dont agree with paying someone to do it all for you I would do now adays as A. I can sort of afford to and B. I just dont have the time or space.
If I get a VXR8 then I will look to do the same as Rich eventually as it seems very drivable and unaffected by heat.... well judging by the number of back to back runs he was doing trying to better my time! LOL

For anyone willing to deal direct with US firms of good reputation there are unlimited options.
All the local shops seem happy to fit whatever, but wont warrant the engine you buy elsewhere for obvious reasons.
However if you buy from a firm with an excellent reputation you should be good to go.
There is a lot to be said for a solid NA engine. Much more reliable than a charger on a stock engine. Obviously more power too
You would have to do both with a charger to win.
Recent results speak for themselves! Both on the dyno and at the track.

There are plenty of people making in excess of 900bhp on aluminium blocks.
Whoever said you need heavy iron...is talking nonsense.
The stroked and blown all boils down to cost. Delving into the engne costs a lot of money due to labour.
So whether its for rods, pistons, crank, whatever. Makes no odds. It will all cost money.
But for sake of a few hundred dollars...while the engine is apart. I cant really see any reason not to stroke it too.
The difference in torque going going from a 346 to 382 for example....is very noticeable.
But as Wormus discovered, and many people do.
Doing a bit...then wanting more, is a very very expensive approach.
You need to decide on a goal, then aim a bit higher...and them go straight for it. Trying to do it in stages thinking you'll be happy will be a very expensive option when you change your mind.
IMO if you can afford....always aim and build bigger than you anticipate. It's much easier to tone things down, than to find power.
Same with the blower....buy big, buy once. You will want more lol.

I dunno about on a Dyno, im sure my graphs are still around somewhere All the local shops seem happy to fit whatever, but wont warrant the engine you buy elsewhere for obvious reasons.

but on the track was a different story but again my little 225tyres against your 275 when im also running more power/torque was never going to be a good thing but that will change soon
Roll on the next oneThe only reason I said 900hp was it's the most I've ever heard of on an alloy block. I asked the question the other day but nobody could give me a proper answer.
As you say, for big power you will need to forge everything and might as well stroke it at the same time. I have recovered some of the money I spent by selling stuff but it worked out more expensive than it needed to. I bet mine still cost less than Jez's though.

And even more than that if talking flywheel figures, which when you think about it...really isnt that difficult to achieve.
At a very random guess...even my old LS6 block could have been in that ballpark for a few years.

Yeah but you have a forged and cammed engine and a blower. I just have a forged cammed engine!

Roll on the next oneStill slower than my NA only though
hehe.I need a few months to sort mine out, I was still just running on 95 octane with the stock intake setup. (Took my otrcai off to give you guys a chance) So there is more in there to come. Stock 275 tyres too. I might check out some 295's for next time.
Beware lesser mortals!

I'm heavily considering a stroked LS2 402ci from the states and sticking my 122 on top for my VXR8, maybe when the weather turns and I won't be using the car as much. How easy will my old LS2 be to shift do you think?
They are popular engines so it should shift ok. Just depends on how much you want for it, also what bits you need to swipe off it when you swap over. You might need to sort your trans out too mate.ringram said:

Feels strong enough, it's had the cooler and oil done so I'll wait and see if it breaks

Whats the widest rims you could get on the back....? 11/12" possibly. 305 tires..? Beware lesser mortals!

Just go for a set of 888's Richard.
They are surprisingly good. Ive been out and about in mine over the past couple of days....and on most good road surfaces, they even grip in 3rd gear.
Which is pretty f
kin good !! lol
So far Ive a little over 2000 miles on them, and they are down to about 3.5mm tread. Which all things considered, is pretty good.
The Kumho's I tried lasted about 1000 miles before they were illegal due to their tread design.
Normal road tyres were only lasting about 3000 miles if I tried to use the car, simply as there was no trafction whatsoever.
