Just wanted to if fitting lighter alloys improves rwhp. I have some new alloys arriving in a few weeks time and they weigh just under 7kg a corner less. Would i see an increase on a dyno?

Obviously just adding lighter wheels will not add any horse power per sa, what you will see is less power lost in rotating heavier wheels, this will equate to an increase of horses getting to the road.
Where you will see gains is for every 1KG of un-sprung weight you save, the car will feel sharper on the road. A saving of 7KG per wheel will equate to 168 KG saving of sprung weight.

Some info here + some really nice carbon fibre wheels, www.dymag.com/CarbonMag_Car_Wheel_Technical.html

Yes, i just wondered if what i thought was correct. Jus wondered if i did a back to back run on a dyno, original vs aftermarket if it would show a slight increase.

Im getting a very good price, £1k with goodyear asymmetric tyres. I've gone for 18 x 8 with a 40 offset, which should clear the front face of the ap's, but they also provide an extra 7-8mm clearance between the caliper and the inner rim.

Alloys are back, ready for pickup tomorrow. Only problem is that ive got a wedding to go to tomorrow so they are being delivered to a friends house. I will try and get some photos once they are on the car.

Can't go wrong with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres mate - damn good.

The alloys are finally on. The brakes now have loads of room, the only problem was that the paint of the alloys is thick so when me and my mate fitted them we scuffed the paint on one of the lug holes. I'm going to get some matt paint tomorrow and touch them up. The other thing is that the car could do with lowering so that the alloys fill the arches a bit more. I will get some more photos with close up's of the calipers tomorrow when the weather is a bit better.

some more photos

the ap's now have loads of room, as the alloys are a lower offset the caliper sits further back into the car. I wonder if it possible to fit even bigger disks under 18's scratchchin

They look wicked mateclap Love them with the AP's on the red car. good workbow
BTW i've noticed a few people comment about the CV8 wheels being "close" to he AP's. Not much clearance. Is that just the 04 rims or does it include the 05?? Bit concerned

Be careful with the lowering. We had a cv8 that came in for lowering with some wheels with 38mm offset. That was a definite no go, fouled the outer arch at the rear long before full bump.

don't know but one of my 04 cv8 alloys had a very minor buckle and it skimmed the paint on the top of one of my calipers. It was a hot day and i was doing alot of hard braking. The other alloys were okay but its very close.

Here's a few of my ap's on 04 cv8 alloys, not the best but to give you an idea

The paint skimmed off my caliper

It is tight. Couple of mm at most. Not an issue if your wheels are true though.

Looking Good Buddy. Nice, sensible upgrade from both aesthetics and performance point of view. They also look a lot stronger than I thought they would.
