The driver’s side front RE040 is wearing on the edges on both sides; I’ve lost about 19mm of visible tread. I check the pressures regularly and keep to those recommended, most of my driving is non-m/way – likely course?
As the Bridgestones are so expensive, plus I’d potentially have a new and a 3500 mile old tyre on the same axle, I’m considering changing both fronts for a cheaper brand. Any recommendations and also ones to avoid (obviously PRC garbage but any others?). And the tread pattern would need to look similar to the Bridgestones.

We just had two new Bridge-stone Potenza fitted for £280. I don't think that's expensive. On cars with this much power i wouldn't go cheaper but that's up to you mate. Remember its one of the only things between you and the tarmac.
my rear tyres dont stay on there long enough to warrant 280 pounds im quite partial to a bit of smoke now and then

I had the same problem with the fronts on mine, so when it was time to replace them I got the wheel alignment sorted at a bodyshop my brother-in -law works at. They used the settings that I gave them off the FAQs and fitted the two fronts that I had mail ordered. All fine now, car runs true and doesn't pull to one side, and so far (fingers crossed) the front tyres are wearing evenly across the tread.

Wear on inner and outer edge suggests underinflated. I guess you are running 32psi? Ignore the book, run 35-36psi.
