Here's the story, long but maybe worth a read... I took my Ro into my nearest Vauxhall dealer for service number 4 back in May... At the time the car had just turned up 16K on the clock, during the service the service manager approached me and asked me to come through to the workshop as the "approved technician" (jester more like) wanted to talk to me about a series of recommendations that he had found during the "oil change service"... All of a sudden i found i was being told that my car was not safe and practically un-road worthy and they came up with a list of urgent recommendations that really should be done before i left the garage, which consequently came to a staggering £1100.00 on top of the service. On the list was; a pair of tyres, which apparently were illegal, urgent attention required to the front pads (apparently i had less than a 1ks worth of miles left in them) and an exhaust that was about to drop off... Shortly after i politely declined their professional opinion i took my car for an MOT (somewhere else). On picking my car up i was staggered to find it had passed the MOT with no recommendations at all, in fact the MOT guy was amazed by the condition, considering its 4 years old (not a blemish above or down under (pardon the pun)... Since my service i have covered about 4K to which i am still driving around on the same tyres which are still well within the legal limit and my exhaust is still in tact which is still shinny as new. But what has brought me to right this, is that tonight i changed the front pads thinking i must be nearing my 1K's worth of miles 4k later... On removing the pads i found that there was still 3mm above the wear bars on both sides and no signs of a dangerous pad in sight.... I cant believe that just for the front pad change, which took me all of 45min for both sides (and its the 1st time i looked at the job) that Vauxhall wanted to charge me £260 for this alone!!!! If this is how an approved Monaro dealer works then they can poke their services and any other work where the sun don't shine!!!! madshootrage

My old dear had a similar experience with a vauxhall garage in Cannock.

They said her sintra [yes I know] needed new head lamps costing £1500.00 to pass MOT.

Took it else where and they passed it without a note/caution.

If I had to take a really wild guess, considering how very vague these clues are, it sounds just like the place that I had some fun and games with. I even wrote a letter of complaint to the General Sales Manager, to which I received no response, and had a moan to Vauxhall as well, but got no meaningful feedback.

If I had to rely on the 'approved' dealers for parts and service, my Monaro would have been disposed of ages ago.

The one i used for warrenty work seamed ok until i asked about service prices, he must of thought i was a bit of a mug and quoted me £160 + fitting for my spark plugs. I brought them else where for £31 including vat. oh they are named after a famous five sided building in america. They wont see me again.

Sorry to hear that mate but not surprised. I also made the mistake of taking my car there and they wanted me to have new steering rack and told me the gearbox needed dropping out and new gasket stuff fitted. 10 hours labour. They ALSO told me my car was unsafe to be on the road and should be left with them. Total cost would have been about 4000 quid. I took it to diss and they said nope everythings fine. I did pay 35 quid for something but can't remember what. Anyway Try diss. Theyre good people.

Also I think their was another guy on here that was initially charged for 13 litres of oil by this dealer as well.
