Looking forward to picking up my VXR8 tomorrow and wondered out of curiosity what the gear ratios are ie x mph per 1000 rpm in each gear as I have no idea if you can work this out from the 3.1/1 final drive ratio, whatever the hell that means! Any assistance is much appreciated and yes am very excited!

Well done, lets see the photos asap. If its the same as a 'ro, about 80mph is 2000 revs.

Can't find it on Monkfish. It talks about final drive ratio which makes about as much sense as the Mrs. Does anyone have it in simple english that I can understand?

Auto car quote:

1 7.1
2 10.3
3 14.9
4 21.4
5 25.4
6 37.5

mph per 1000 rpm. The VXR8 is shorter geared than the 6.0 VXR Monaro by way of a 3.7:1 diff instead of 3.46.

So its about 75mph at 2000 rpm in 6th.

Enjoy your purchase.

Many thanks for the plain english. What about running in? 4k max and no full throttle for say 500 miles or does it not really matter?

Our engineering is quite good these days and work to microns if necessary. They don't have white metal bearings to broach and scrape in any more!!! Tolerances on modern engines are good to go, so as Tiler says the most important thing is not to abuse your kit (ETA at any time) until up to correct working temp, and then Give It One!

When I get a new car, I always "run it in" for a different reason, and that is to get my backside used to the feel of the car. It's no good blatting it when you don't know where the limits are and there are plenty of examples of drivers wrecking their new performance cars within a couple of days of owning it.

Having picked up the car all I can say is f**k me. I never test drove it so it was all the more a big surprise. Some cars don't need to be test driven. You just know you're gonna love it! The Wortec on loud is incredible and boy does it turn heads!! Fan bloody tastic!!
