Does anyone here own or know who owns the gorgeous black quad headlamp GTS 350 Monaro that always pops up at Classics on the Common in Harpenden? It's utterly lovely.

There's a random comment on my gallery saying it's possibly the only one in the UK. Probably out of my price range but you never know. I'd guess it'd fetch more than a similar condition Camaro... or would it?

Yeah that thing is awesome and thats a real street machine and great to see its looked after oviously the owner knows what he has. They would fetch a few dollars back home it good condition so would say being rare here no probs gettin a good price as long as he could find the right buyer.its good to see a few of the old favourites still alive and well....

It was at the Ace last Australia day.

I think Sophie arranged for first dibbs on it as she fell in love with it

I had a good look over it and it was immaculate. It obviously gets driven (as it should!) but the bodywork looked spotless and the arches were free of rust. The interior is spotless too. Want.

Looking after it may be harder than something American of the era though.

There are shedloads of most parts in Oz. Maybe not so many coupe's but IIRC the HQ was their highest selling car ever. I think we are talking hundreds of thousands. I like the HQ Premier smile Kind of like a 1970 chevelle styling.

It ran from about 1970 in HQ form through to the HZ in 1978 when the magic Commodore entered, which looked initially like a crap Vauxhall Belmont but with the 5L v8 from the old Hx series. Oh plus a few crappy 4.2L 253 V8's. They carried the basic through to the 1998 VT when they changed to the LS1. Though the early VT's still had the crusty old 5L albeit with EFI. I drove one years ago with a 5L. In fact I know there was a few on the for sale forum with the Harrop 5.7L stroker in them.

Anyway I digress as usual. Holdens Rule smile
