Noted today that starting the car it was ticking over at around 1000 rpm rather than the usual 750ish.

I suffered this once before and car then cut out after a period. Following assistance from 007 VXR and others it sounded like a throttle body sensor. I got this changed under warranty and all has been well since. Car has probably only covered 100 miles since then.

Car did not stall today, but what seemed really weird was the dash telling me to change up at around 4000rpm with the beeps and lcd display.

Didnt manage to replicate again on rest of way back home. Took car out a moment ago and all is back to usual 750rpm and no beeping at the wrong speed.

If we've ruled out the throttle body can anyone shed any light on what other sensors maybe causing this ?

TIA

Dean.

Someone will prob correct me on this one, but, isn't there a setting under the menu function to turn on/off the change gear warning that flashes up on the dash at a certain rev level?? Higher rev level at start up could be something simple as the auto choke coming on for a while ??

I don't think you can turn off the gear change indications, maybe change the settings with something like EFI live. The indications (beep, light and change up symbol) come on at the rev limit - around 6k when engine up to temp and around 4k when cold.

Ah so beeping a 4k is normal - obviously me be a bit keen from cold.. I'd seen it a 6 before but not 4

Maybe the high tickover was nothing then

Thanks

LS2 has a cold engine rev limit beep set at 4k.
Its also not unusual for the engine to settle at 1000rpm either.

Didn,t know about the beep at 4k. I got a big fright the other morning when it went off. Thought I had hit 7k! Reminder- must not gun it too soon.

yikes I'm staggered when I read about getting a warning about revving to 4K when cold... remind me never to buy a car from anyone who does... talk about abusing the machine!!

I know most of you are more used to little 4 cylinder buzzbombs than torquey V8s but even so... my race car used to idle at 3500 and rev to 11500 but I drive the Monaro a bit differently to that thumbup
