Insurance is up for renewal on the VXR8....28, 8 years NCB, Clean Licence, Tracker, Mods declared 600bhp+ etc etc....

Tesco renewal is £1026

Thought i'd give A-Plan a ring....THEY WOULDN'T even bother quoting! Said 'what do I expect with a car thats nearly the same power as a Mclaren SLR' (hardly the same thing is it!)

Do you think £1026 is reasonable or do you think there is cheaper out there?

Dear vxrphantom,

too large a number of variables to be sure but...

...I am over-opinionated so here's my 2p:
Comprehensive, protected NCB, legal cover?
Where do you live, sink estate or rural idyll?
You are quite young (no patronisation intendedsmile)

The only way you're going to rate your Tesco quote is by getting other ones to compare. Yes it will take a few calls but you might just save ££. I'm with Greenlight, there are other mod-friendly insurers in the FAQs. Or search the forum, there are quite a few threads already on insurance,

regards,
Jet

I think thats a bit steap, your mods are simular to mine and I've also got 8yr NCB but am 27 though my cars not worth a much as yours I pay £700 all mods declared.

Try Greenlight or Adrian Flux both gave me simular quotes.

I have tomorrow morning set aside to ring around a few companies for quotes as my renewal is due and Adrain Flux want over £1600 to renew my cover on a supercharged Monaro.
If I uncover any bargains I will let you know.

i pay 860, fully comp with bell on a standard ro. but then again i am 22 so thats pretty cheap!!

was insured with flux on my skyline, and the renewal quote was 2600 on the ro!!!

as 'mod friendly' as they are flux, take ages to answer the calls, you seem to be on hold forever. and they also want to know absolutey everything about you, including your dogs name.......far too much paperwork to return!

not sure how 'mod friendly' bell are but you can only try

I'm with elephant with all my mods declared. I was told over the phone that the mods are covered but if i had an accident and a modded part was broken then that part was only covered upto £500. I could be wrong though as this as approx 4 months ago, but they were good when i told them about the ripshifter and ap's as they never put the premium up.

I am currently 22, insured the car when i was 21. cv8 with wortec sport, ap's and ripshifter. Paying £1650 with everything declarded.

I think, on reflection and having met you, that the most shocking thing about this is you are only 28.

Postcode is the biggest decider really (apart from age).

On cat 20 car I went from
- garaged
- Social and domestic (no commuting)
- 5k miles limited
- Nice part of Hampton Court

then to
- allocated parking in open car park
- Business use
- Unlimited miles
- Ok part of edinburgh.

Got a 50quid refund ???

Hi Gareth, yeah cant believe how cheap they are!! glad I sold mine just before it went awol!! tax man paid off and want to move house again now (in the new year, 3 years after moving into current one!) and will then be pondering what car to get next.

Toss up between another VXR8 and do my own thing to it, or Aston Martin...kids want VXR8 as they loved the last one..you cant beat the sound or performance thats for sure.

Definitely bored with the Omega already, so will appease the mrs and do the house move then decide what I want to do.

I'm back off to US for 3 weeks from Sat but I'll hopefully make it out to another event sometime soon to say hello and have a gander at all the mods that have been made in the past few months!!

Sometime I'm hoping to blag a ride in a big HP (ie ~600+ RWHP) twin turbo or twin-screw sc to see how they compare. Dave or Jez have the TT - Jez, is it on the road yet!? but am hoping someone will have a big enough SC set-up too.

Hope to see you soon!

Hi Gary nice of you to pop in mate.

Not quite done yet, the customers being a right arse and changed his mind so it`s taking longer than anticipated (Nothing major, just a pain)

re runs out, you are more than welcom, Wormus also has a rip snorting monster on the road now (circa 650RWHP).

See you out there
