Will original Monaro Stereo/CD work in Pontiac GTO?

As a Dutch owner of a (LHD) Pontiac GTO 2006, I have a problem with the Frequenties my original Radio can receive only od figures behind the dot, as al the US frequenties are !. I can buy an original Blaupunct® Manaro stereo from the U.K. with the original code, but I've heard that they can only function in the original car du to a chip related to the original car?
Is there someone who can please tell me what is true or not, because I don't want tot have another stereo, but I want the original stereo that can receive all the frequenties we have in Europe/ the Netherlands. ( Od & even numbers behind the dot )
