What with people saying that the Monaro is 'under tyred' for such a big/powerful car what would be the implications of putting bigger tyres on the back of a CV8 ?

I've just stuck some newer 235/40/18 on the front but the backs need replacing soon. What if I were to put 245/40/18 on the back ? This obviously increases the rolling radius by a few 'mm'. Can't get an exact match and don't want to lower the profile anymore as I wont have anymore teeth left.

Or would it be better just to go for 245/40/18 all round ?

I don't think you'd notice any difference. I'd even go so far as to add if you feel there is a difference it's probably not real.

245 will go all round but no wider on the front, have heard of a couple of folk at least running 255 on the back but thats pushing it on the 8" wide wheels.

Do you mean if I change the lot ? Or wouldn't notice any difference changing just the back ones ?

Either. I think that a nominal 10mm extra won't feel any different to the average Joe, on the road.

You need to go wider on the rims otherwise wider tires on stock rims allow the car to move about more and you may upset the handling. I went 10" on the rear ans 285 tires, lots of grip and no handling issues. Not cheap mind!!
