AC and effect on power

Does the air conditioner sap any significant amount of power and if so does anyone have any rough ideas as to how much?

Yes, that's why we switch them off for racing and dyno days. How much? Don't know, but I've just got a 25% underdrive pulley for mine, hopefully to reduce these parasitic losses.
