Stereo replacement
Discussion
Sorry guys i no there has been hundreds of these already just have a couple of questions ive my original stereo in the ute now had it out for awhile had a single din in it was a tight fit..ive decided to get rid of that and buy a decent double din somethin with a 7 inch screen or whateva will fit in the hole is it a case of pulling the factory unit out and sliding new 1 in...thanks for ur patience
Sorry mate, but prob need more info to answer this one. Looks like you have a circa 2001 model - I think the stereo in these cars was, although double din, smaller than the double din units fitted in the later VY/VZ models (which most here in UK are). The VY/Z stereo's are a double din unit, but the fascia is larger and covers more of the console than a standard double din unit does. I think in your car (from memory) the unit is a 'correct' double din and leaves a proper double din hole when removed. If so, then you prob won't need a fascia adapter (like the later cars do) and a double din unit should fit correctly. As to whether you need to remove the cage aswell may depend on how the new unit mounts, you may also have to modify, change or adapt the wiring and/or connectors to attach to the new unit.
If you could post a few pics of the original unit and the dash 'hole' - might be able to be a bit more precise.
