I know a huge amount of you have the Ripshifter and are very happy with it, the only one ive tried was at the Fish on a parked car, dont get me wrong it was definately an improvement over standard but I wasnt overly keen on the way it shifted, was a bit too clunky if thats the right word for me.

I used to always have the B+M shortshifters fitted to my other cars and always thought they were great, have found a few reviews on them ref our cars on the net and a few say they are a big improvement over standard but not as extreme as the ripshifter.

Anyone tried both or can comment either way?

I had the B&M shifter in mine, it was terrible, it vibrated at speed, and after less then 10k miles it just snapped in half, and the worst part was that it snapped in half not while powershifting or anything but when i was putting it in neutral. Had to go back to stock which while feeling like absolute rubish is at least reliable

know when I had my ripshifter fitted 4 years ago the oz forums were full of folk slagging off the b&m and taking them back out to replace with ripshifters. btw although its been a while since I checked you used to be able to get the kit from Oz for around 240 quid plus carriage and import duty if you fancy fitting it yourself.

I have the B&M shifter and I'm very happy with it. Doesn't rattle noticably and certainly hasn't snapped. Not expensive either.

I think its G&M and Billet Shifters in Oz that you mean mate.

B&M is a US Co.

something like that, dont matter either way as I'd still get the ripshifter (well no need, the current stock shifter is as good as my old ripshifter)

I've had my B&M in the 'ro for over 12 months and 20.000 miles now and it's pretty good. A bit more fiddly to fit than the instructions make out but nothing new there. Having said that it was what my budget ran to at the time and if I'd had the extra £ I would have probably gone for the GM as I've never read a review from anyone who wasn't bowled over by it.

Whats the GM version?

Never had a problem with the B&M in any of my older cars that had them fitted to and done a lot of miles with them!

The GM version is GM motorsport ie the Ripshifter.
There are 2 versions, the street version, which I believe most of the UK customers bought and the race version which a lot of the Oz people use. The street version re-uses your stock gearknob and stock gear lever. The race version uses your stock gearknob and a new one piece replacement lever.
Jeepers I spound like a salesman.
