Just got back from Southampton and on the way back I decided to see how many mpg I could get out of the old girl, so from southampton to clacket lane on the M25 I put it in cruise at 60mph and ended up averaging 34.8!!! Got quite obsessive about trying to get over 35 in the end! But after pulling in to the services normal service resumed cos it was so boring! and I have to ask myself why I did it!!!

Because like the rest of us you want to believe your 6.0 V8 can be as economical as a 'normal' car. Well its not because a 2.0 diesel would have averaged 60mpg over the same distance. Enjoy it while you have petrol to burn.

Anyone know how the computer gets the mpg figure? Is the fuel flow specifically measured or does it just integrate all the injector opening times? Ringram?

Very impressive figures, assuming that figure was your door to door average?

My company car at the minute is a 1.6Diesel, was no stock left so had to take it and its the most boring, slowest car ive ever had! The economy isnt that good as it gets its tits thrashed everywhere lol
