Why Don't I Love my VXR8 like my old RO ?
Discussion
Hi Folks,
2 months in now ...and Yes the power is better, yes the brakes are great...................BUT.........
The Ro had more Character, the interior not as plastic and bland as the R8
The Ro turned more heads on the street and gave more feedback to the driver
My other half says it's a slow burn and i'll get there ?
Any Thoughts gang

Jesus! I thought the 'ro had more plastic inside than a lego factory. Monaro's do have a lovely sleek shape though. You know what they say, first love is always hard to get over.....

Coupes tend to look sexier and stir the emotions more than a 4 four door saloon I guess.
I was given a 'loaner' VXR8 when having my Ro serviced a couple of years back, I couldn't wait to get back into the Monaro, having said that the VXR8 was better than the usual Astra loan car tho'

To make a comparison its a bit like comparing a mature super model and a Page 3 bint.
One is elegant and sophisticated and you will enjoy her company over a long period of time, the other will give you a good time but it will all be over a bit quick but you may just go back there for some more.

That's 2 Monaros you've just described (only with more use of the heavy pedal in one regard), the missing line would be something like the following for the R8:-One is elegant and sophisticated and you will enjoy her company over a long period of time, the other will give you a good time but it will all be over a bit quick but you may just go back there for some more.

"Then there's the boring one, you know the kind - kind of like your mates mum, it may seem appealing from time to time but you just know you're better to walk away"

oposed to the vxr8 where everyone knows what it is so gives it respect. The ro is big and fat but like a fat lass it might be a good screw but you dont show it off to your mates
That would be the VXR8 that's famous for losing every group test because it's so heavy? It also drinks like Richard Burton and looks like a bag full of smashed crabs!
I think I have a solution that'll give you the best of boths worlds.
Part a)
Use the VXR8 as a daily driver. Park it in tight, multi-story parking places which are always the shortest walk to the shoping centre you're visting and don't worry about any dings that the car gets. Never warm the car up properly before flogging it. It's not important - those warning messages are perhaps just a quirk of the car. Only wash it once a year - at Sainsburys car wash (never by hand). Only ever use valent parking at the airport. When it's time to replace the tires, only purchase what's on special offer - front and rear needn't match. If you have to approach the car from a distance in daylight always try and have the car between you and the sun - even if it means you have to enter the car through one of it's many practical doors. That way if you squint it'll almost look like a Vectra.
Part b)
Save up and buy a Ro as a second car to cherish. Upgrade the suspension, steering and brakes and enjoy. Throw nearly endless amounts of money at power upgrades and general repairs. Ignore any offers of practical advise from those who know no better.
I hope in some way this advise helps.
Regards,
Steve.
