Hi folks new to the Monaro so need as much info as poss please. I am in the process of removing an engine and box from a 2004 LS1 Monaro to use elsewhere. I would like to use the original ecu so need wiring diagrams and diagnostic info. Also any tips on tuning using the original ECU and removing as may features as poss Air Con, Emmissions etc.
Also this engine has tubular headers is this normal or did they come with cast manifolds?

Welcome matey wavey
Sounds like you've stumbled across the LS1 out of an original VXR. They had the tubular headers as standard iirc. What you putting it into? scratchchin

Yes car is a write off so if anyone wants anything off it I can sort it out with the owner as I have only purchased the running gear. As to what it is going into, will have to stay a secret for the time been as I do not know if it will fit and do not want " I told you so" from all corners!

efilive mate smile

Plug and play, just remove the wiring loom at the same time.
speartech and caspers sell new looms if thats easier.

Stock ECU is the easiest and best route anyway.

I really need to have a wiring diagram to help me with the last 10 or 12 wires that go into the car via the engine bay bulkhead. Sorry but have only worked on Cosworth and Bike injection set-ups so can you explain what you mean by 'plug and play' using the stock ecu
Cheers

Yeah stock ecu is often used in conversions. So its plug and play meaning plug into the wiring loom and off you go. Subject to disabling vats etc.

OK I see. What are VATS and how do I disable them?

Welcome to the site. I would like to know what condition the front seats are in and how much?

www.efilive.com, should help with the tuning you will find another site called holdencrazy.com which is a tune repository which might help in getting your project going.

Don't put it in a lighter car and come drag racing with any of us whatever you do.

Painless Wiring do loads of looms for just what you're doing. Sounds like you may not need their kit, but their manual's downloadable and they've a support site. Might help.
