Hi Guys,

Posted back here a few weeks back asking about importing a Maloo - all set to go, but though I'd just try to get some insurance quotes first.

Oh dear.

Tried Adrian Flux first as I thought they'd be best - but only one insurer on their books recognised the Maloo as a model! This resulted in daft quotes.

I did have a word with greenlight I think it was, who said they'd insure it as a VXR-8 and make an amendment to the cover note (but then couldn't insure it as it was over £20k). Do you know if any other insurers will do this?

It doesn't help I'm only 21, but doing a few quotes on similar cars I can get down to around £1700 on the 6.2 Litre VXR-8, which I wouldn't be too unhappy about.

Any suggestions?!

The NFU are very good, they insure my Maloo for a more then competitive rate.

1. I'm insured with Adrian Flux, so they know what a Maloo is and they know their V8's in general. I think your age could be the problem.

You could try Classicline Insurance. I've got my Ro with them.

They said only one of their insurers would recognise it, so instead of getting a price from 50 odd insurers, I was stuck with a price from just one.

Sky said they could insure it as a VXR-8 with an amendment on the cover note (sounded good), but wont insure (possibly just someone my age) on anything over £20k.

When looking for VXR8 (with mods) insurance Chris Knott knew what they were talking about and beat the only other sensible quote which was Elephant, so give them a try.
