Hi guys,

New on here, so be kind .

I have just bought a new LS3 VXR8, and the mods have begun in earnest.

I am looking at getting an X-Force exhaust and headers from Oz, but am not sure if I should go for 2.5 or 3 inch. I am planning a supercharger soon, so realise that the 3" will provide more flow, but am concerned that it will be too damn loud? Will the 3" headers and system provide a lot more power and torque than the 2.5, or are the differences negligible? At the same time, is the 3" system and headers really loud? I don't wanna sound like a 'look at me' type of idiot down the high st, nor do i want a droney and boomy system on the motorway.

Any help you can provide would be gratefully accepted.

Cheers,

Mart.

Hello there. You should decide how much power you're realistically going for and only go for the larger size if absolutely required (probably >550 rwhp). Going large too early will be a bad idea, may even reduce power.

Cheers mate.

I am going for a supercharger so will be pumping out about 650 bhp at the fly.

I'm pretty sure that 3" is the best route power wise, just worried about noise and volume.

Noise and volume has more to do with the mufflers TBH.
Difilippo 3" systems are quieter than some local 2.5" stuff.

Andy they sound lovely and rumbly (think TVR) as opposed to raspy and poppy like the Wortec stuff. Which you prefer is down to you. I have also noticed the volume is proportional to the amount of air flowing through it. My Wortec was ok before I had the heads, cam and headers done. After that it was embarrassingly loud. My difilippo was just right at 8psi boost, now with 14psi at WOT it sounds evil.

I say listen to a few and decide on one you like.

Where do you get defillipo exhausts from?

Want a VXR8 exhaust asap but nobody seems to have one on the shelf at the moment

RapidGB. Mark imports them.

you can also order direct but you'll need to organise your own courier to collect and ship them, least that was what I was told when I enquired. Probably easier and cheaper to get Mark to sort it and share the shipping with someone else's order.
