Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before?

Started the car up after it had been sitting for about an hour, drove off then noticed the oil gauge was sitting at 5 bar, normally sits around 3. No warning lights and the oil level is at max (checked after I'd let it sit for 30 minutes).

There is a little bit of oil around the pressure sensor, so it must be weeping a small amount.

I started it up a few times, each time the gauge shows just below 3 before I start it up, then sweeps up to 5 after it starts. If I blip the throttle it goes a bit higher then stays there.

After turning it off the last time the display popped up that it needed a service, which seems a bit early as it was only last serviced 3k miles ago.

Oh and if its the sensor that needs changed, thats going to be fun, looks like I'll have to remove the supercharger to get to it frown

Typical, got a free weekend and the car decides it needs a rest smile

Dave.

mine did this after the rebuild. Turned out to be the sensor.

Wormus, cheers.

After looking at a few things, I was thinking its probably either the sensor or the oil pump (relief valve stuck).

Think I'll order a sensor and see how it goes. At least I should be able to fit that myself, an oil pump would be a different matter.

Mine was reading a constant 5 volts even at idle and set the car into limp home mode. Unless its been disabled through EFI live yours should do the same. It says "Check Engine" or similar.

Had the same thing after a dealer service a few months ago.The oil pressure was off the guage at about 3000rpm. Took it back and faulty filter was the cause. (They said)

Had a similar problem with mine too, was reading either off the top of the scale or zero with the check engine warning up.
Vauxhall replaced the sender under warranty and it's been fine since.

Just thought I'd let you all know it was the sensor.

Took me 20 minutes to swap it over using a deep 27mm socket and 4" extension. Luckily there is just enough room (after I'd moved some cabling out the way), to get the socket down the back of the supercharger.
