Has anybody seen and heard both the Walkinshaw and the Wortec bi modal exhausts for a VXR8?

Do both use the same switch, are they a similar volume and tone? Has anybody got either fitted?

Has anybody had a Walkinshaw Performance exhaust fitted? Is 92db loud enough or a bit subdued.

Please can we avoid the quality comments etc as both cost similar and both are warrantied, it seems that previous threads degenerate in to a which is best quality which generally apppears to reach a 50/50 conscencus not proving much

I've driven both this week. If you have a S/C you won't hear the Walkinshaw very often, and it's far less "involving" than the Wortec in my opinion, but perhaps a little more civilised. Looks-wise, I think they both look great, but I think the Walk protrudes further from the bumper; so more noticeable in side profile.

I've been having the same dilemmma..scratchchin

They don't sound similar. The usual Wortec sound and edge is missing from the Walkinshaw. Hard to be definitive when they make 3 different Walkinshaw pipes. I haven't heard the bi-modal one.

In which case you have probably heard the 'performance' one which is supposedly the quiet option.

Had the Walkinshaw Bi-Modal for a month now. (On a Bathurst S)

There is not much difference between loud and quiet.
On loud it is significantly quieter inside the car and a bit quieter outside the car than my previous Wortec cat back 6LVXR.
It is definitley more civilised - easier to talk to passnegers insider the car (if thats what u want...)
From outside it is quieter on startup, indeed at start up there is absolutely no difference between loud and quiet. It is always less raspy/mettalic than the wortec, but not really that v8 bassy either. It still pops and crackles but it is more remote. As i have said before JC describes the overun soundtrack as disctant artillery. In my old wortec it was my like samll arms fire close by. If that makes sense.

If you want it loud and are used to wortec definitley dont go Walkinshaw BiModal based on my expericence. I havent hear the Supercar version but understand from Walkinsaw that it is louder in all circumstances than the bimodal on loud setting.

Hope this helps. Where are you your welcome to have a listen if you are near the south west...

Not perfect I know, but you can find both on you tube to make a comparison. Wortec also have a video on their web site showing loud and quiet settings with is a reasonable representation even you cant judge absolute volumes.

Not as good as the real thing of course but it may help.
