Evening

The wife and i are lucky enough to be expecting a baby in early 2010. Whilst this is great news the very expensive new baby seat pram combo we just purchased has my car foxed. the seatbelt in the back seams really short and wont go around the seat. A mate of mine thinks that the car will have ISOFIX fittings behind the rear seats. Is this true? and if so does this mean that the seatbelt doesnt go around the child seat and just the base.

You can tell im fully clued up on the baby thing!

cheers

Rob

Yes it has the US version of ISOFIX in it. Top tether and two eyelets in the gap between seat cushion and seat back. Never used them so cant advise there, but if you search there is a US manual for the Pontiac GTO that desribes it all at length.

thanks for the replies

the pontiac manual shows how much rubbish the americans have to put in there to avoid being sued. They advise on everything from how to wear a seatbelt to how to overtake! bless

the seat came with a surefix base but with this fitted the belt is still not long enough. i was hoping that it had ISOFIX and that might work.

has anyone used a seatbelt extender to overcome this rather stupid problem?

Go out very early tomorrow morning. Drive. Fast and loose. 12 hours. Come home, take the wife to a movie then onto a restaurant. Repeat on Sunday. Repeat the next weekend.

Do that lots, and do it fast, 'cos your life is about to change more than you can ever conceive. (Change for the better, it just doesn't feel like it at the time!). No one ever tells you this, but you will wish they had.

Congrats!

PS don't sell the 'ro, the kids will grow up butyou won't!

I've never seen an isofix point anywhere on the Ro - There certainly aren't any signs as on euro cars.
I went for a fitted base, with removeable carrier which is the quickest way of getting baby in and out.
Had to use a seat belt extender - make sure you get the right end on it - there are different width tongues.
Purist H&S officers will tut and frown at you for using an extender, but sometimes there is no choice, just make sure the plastic parts of the belt clip and holder aren't pressed against the body of the baby seat - there have been cases of the pressure from an impact smashing the casing and releasing the belt. (said the people from Halfrauds........)
Never had any issues with mine.
HTH?
